I want to say, "Don't you think that's kinda ________?, not saying "double standardy", at tonight's local city council meeting, referring to them not following the rules they make for the general public.

TIA, TC, community activist.

I hope "smart ***" is close enough to "smart" to be able to answer.

Ironic, arrogant, contradictory, derisive. Any of those work?

PM Iggy. Not only is a fart smeller who most likely knows the appropriate word, but then one who actually practices it! :lol:

any word that is above and beyond "double standard" is most likely above and beyond their comprehension, so I'd apply "KISS" and...use dictatorial and hypocritical, certainly something they understand :assassin:

duplicitous - marked by deliberate deceptiveness especially by pretending one set of feelings and acting under the influence of another;

Why use a word that no one knows? Why not just say 'How is it not a double standard when the rules for the general public are______________, yet, for you, it is ok to _____________?'. Keep it simple

How about CONFUSING or simply INCONSISTENT?

It sounds like one word may not be enough (maybe you need to call them "fargeen' iceholes")...

MENDACIOUS

mendacious \men-DAY-shuhs\, adjective:

1. Given to deception or falsehood; lying; untruthful; as, a mendacious person.

2. False; untrue; as, a mendacious statement.

Toe, I fiond that at city council meetings the "angry but controlled" approach is best. use big words like duplicitous but use a gamut of words like "this is duplicitous and mendacious! this elitist double standard cannot be supported"

This way you are clear and they know they are dealing with someone smart and motivated enough to have an effect!
