I just sold my '03 FJR with 75,000 miles to my brother-in-law. I wanted him and my sister to get back into riding and touring. Now I need a replacement and considered many options but keep coming back to the FJR as the best, most durable and versatile S/T around and the best value for the $. I went back ten pages in this "for sale" section - back to first of December and found virtually nothing within 500 miles of here (Butte, MT). I do know of an '04 with 13,000 miles in Spokane (300 miles) but the guy is asking a little too much, I think - $7,000. I also know of an '05 with just 7,500 miles listed at $8,000 firm - 450 miles away. I'd like to spend about $6,000 and would like to get into a Gen II - yes, looking for a good deal. I'd go some more for the right deal. 30,000 or 40,000 miles doesn't worry me too much if maintenance has been faithfully performed (backed by records). Anyone within 300-500 miles of southwest Montana got an FJR we could deal on? Sorry, not interested in AEs. Thanks for reading and thanks for your consideration.

Niehart, nice meeting you (again) in Seattle last weekend and thanks for the purchase. Tom Klein won the book we were giving away. I had seen the FJR in Bellevue on the Internet - ya, a lot of dough and a long distance.

Chivvalry, I searched Craig's List back and forth and turned up nothing in Montana, North Dakota or Wyoming, a couple around Boise. Your find in Helena is remarkable and just 65 miles away. Thank you very much. This sounds like a fair deal. Besides, the weather is looking like mid-50s this weekend (first time that warm since October) - that's riding weather in Montana in March! I'm on this one! Hope it's still around.

Rexburg Motor Sports in Rexburg Idaho is showing two used FJR's in Stock--an '05 and an '07. Not a lot of details but worth a call.

No problem... Literally took like 5 seconds in searchtempest. Took me longer to look up your zip code in Butte than anything else.

I left one in Helena a couple years back. Might not be sold yet, and I bet you could get it for a good price. Gen I though. Here's a pic.

Sacramento, that looks just like one I saw in Red Lodge several year ago, apparently crashed somewhere on the Beartooth Highway. Since my skills are limited, I think I'd pass.

Good to see you here Big Sky. Met you as well at the EuroShow this last weekend. It was great meeting and talking to you.

Good luck with the search. There are a ton of FJRs out there in your price range...be patient and you'll find *the* one.

"The one" in Helena is not responding. Too bad. I'd have picked it up this weekend.

Bummer... looks like a nice bike. Well, give it some more time.

We like to say "Montana is just one big small town" – everyone knows everyone else. I tracked the Helena seller down, he still has it and we're dealing. Maybe I'll score. Big thanks to Chivvalry. I don't understand why this one doesn't appear on Craig's List Montana, but can be found on Craig's List Helena. The SearchTempest is a cool tool. Thanks for that, too.

SCORE! Just made a deal with the Helena seller at $6,000. A very fair price, I think. So, I'm still an FJR owner/rider and tomorrow the weather is looking very good (for Montana in March). Meeting my brother on Sunday for the first real ride of the year. YAY!
