My fiancee and I are getting married in August and are looking to get the FJR way out of town for about a week or week and a half for the honeymoon. We are at ends as to where we should go. We would like to find some nice hilly terrain. We live in Northern MN and have ridden up the north shore several times so that is out. Anybody have any suggestions?

If yer lookin' for helpful hints as to what and where to ride on yer honeymoon...you came to wrong place...I'm sure there will be no hints forthcoming. ;)

How about the Cabot Trail? It is one of the most beautiful rides I've ever been on.

A loop around Lake Superior spending some extra time in the UP of Mich. nice and cool in August.

The Black Hills later in August so you miss the Stooges Rally.

This might be a bit far for a one week trip but the Icefields Parkway between Banff and Jasper.

Sorry I don't have suggestions but hope you have a good ride or two...
I'd think the idea is to be together and enjoy some great scenery...then a lovely dinner each evening.

Set your daily goals shorter than if you are two-up and pick a destination of mutual interest.

Yep, we are pretty much looking for some roads with nice scenery to cruise down. We will be taking my FJR and have about a week (maybe a week and a half) round trip.

Icefields Pkwy looks beautiful. I am filing these ideas away, but again I think this is just too far for us to spend time there and have fun. Black Hills might be ok. What are some good roads near there for sight seeing?

No go for roads in the Black Hills huh? How 'bout roads in and around Glacier Nat'l Park or possibly into central Canada?

Cabot Trail: great riding + ocean views = romance. Seems appropriate for a honeymoon.

How about Banff and the Canadian Rockies? Great riding + stunning scenery + cool lodging options = romance. Another honeymoon alternative.

Given your time constraints and the time of the year (August); may I recco: Bancroft ONT, Canada -- in the Haliburton Highlands. Nice rural tour from Burrrmidji, the romance of a foreign country, lots of B&B accommodations, a resort area, and approx. 1K miles, one-way, from home (just right). :)

That sounds kinda' nice. We may just have to get our passports in order.

I was doing some looking on www.bestbikingroads.com and it appears as though this site never really took off. There are some routes listed on each coast and a whole lot of nothing in the midwest. I like the idea of the site though.

You might try the guys over at sport-touring.net. They are from all over the country and might know some interesting back roads and scenery.

There is some awesome roads in the Black Hills. But just very boring on the way out. You would have one full day out their. A few VERY good days of riding. Spearfish Canyon is awesome. I forget the name of the other roads. If you would like to take a honeymoon later, try coming out to CFO.
