I was splitting some firewood this weekend when..........

Actually, when I was done splitting firewood, I decided to wash my bike. When I pulled the seat off, I noticed the long bolt that holds the rear of the gas tank in place (near the front of the rider's seat) was missing a nut. Does anyone know what size and type of nut belongs there? Regular nut and lock washer? Nut with nylon insert? Washer? Dealer is closed today, so I might try a regular hardware store.

I lost mine too.

It's what size fits in a 12 mm socket.

I guessing that would be 8mm.

I used a plain nut and flat washer.

Bolt isn't long enough for much else.

A flanged nut would probably be best.
