This is my 1st ever ride report. Being that I am retiring next year (actualy 11 months now) and plan on doing many of these I thougth I would practice here. So this is only a test ride report - if this had been a actual ride report it would be about riding..... :)

The plan was to leave on April 27th at 3pm. The players are Ken, Bill, Brian and myself (Bruce). Brian was getting a new rear tire on Monday and the axel wouldn't come out. The dealer decided to order a new axel and bearing before they cut it out -- and now we are 3. This is the day the really bad storms were headed toward the SE and there were some extreme winds ahead of the front. We decided to leave early the next morning after the storms passed. That was probably a good decision as tornado's cut a path through the south.. fortunitaly for me the worse of the storm cells passed to the north and south of me. So I rode home from work and left the bike in the garage waiting paticently to hit the road.

Leaving the QT at 6am we were well in the calm behind the storms. Ken arrived (with Bonnie riding *****) and said Bill wasn't comming -- he wanted to check his boat on Allatoona Lake and his boy lived farther north and haven't been heard from so he was taking care of family first.. and now we are 2.

We rode to south of Atlanta and stopped for breakfast... 12 other riders stoped at the same Waffle House and they has the same destiation. Thats Ken and Bonnie by the wall,,, yes Bonnie is a real dog....

It was a glummy ride down so no pictures.. and a few rain drops but not enough to dawn rain gear... We arrived about 1pm (320 miles) and it was starting to look like a much better day or we headed out to see some venues while the traffic was light.. Started at Club LaVela...

Bill... What is that he's eating.....

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201152.jpg

That ended day 2... we left early for Pier Park for the Can-Am demo.. got signed up for 9:45am ride.

Ran across the street for a quick breakfast.. danish and coffee..

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201153.jpg

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201154.jpg

FYI.. I didn't like the Can-Am .. I had more issues with not leaning in a turn than I thought I would. Even going straight it felt funny.. like a minor shakes but tracked ok... If you want the touring model fully loaded is now $28,000. (yes .. American dollars)

We then went to Frank Brown Park... this is the mother of all venues.. just plain hugh....

This is just a small part of the parking lot.. find the Feger... I couldn't......

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201155.jpg

Hey loook.. you can upgrade the Hogtunes from the other place...

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201156.jpg

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201157.jpg

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201158.jpg

There were fearless kids...

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201159.jpg

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201163.jpg

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201164.jpg

And kids in steel balls...

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201160.jpg

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201162.jpg

I doen't know what I was taking here.. maybe the camera went off by mistake......

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201165.jpg

When we finally left the parking lot cleared out some... there's the Feger....

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201166.jpg

We went back to the condo to start packing up.. then found Angelo's Steak Pit...

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201167.jpg

Food ****... that was one fine steak....

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201168.jpg

And so ended day 3... We stayed up BS'ing until we discovered it was 1am...

Thus the 10:30am exit from Panama Ciy Beach.. over the bridge to Panama City...

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201169.jpg

The way north is Hwy. 231 in FL which turns into hwy. 431 in AL. It looks like there were more people rideing then doing the trailer thing..... 4 way devided all the way to Columbus GA....

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201172.jpg

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201173.jpg

There are 2 citys where the traffic always backs up to stop and go for 30 - 45 minutes to get through.. so we decided to take a "short cut"... We took off on Rt. 2 and encountered nothing.. it was glorious..

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201174.jpg

We caught Hwy 39 north.. through farm country... you would pass hugh fields ( red GA clay) and then pass through a wooded section.. then repeat... all at 55 - 60 MPH... Feger loved this pace - I got incredable mileage...

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201175.jpg

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201176.jpg

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201177.jpg

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201178.jpg

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201180.jpg

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201181.jpg

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201182.jpg

The small towns we passed through were fairly much deserted.. except for the local police of course...

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201183.jpg

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201184.jpg

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201186.jpg

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201187.jpg

We stopped at the Walter F. George Reservoir for a butt break.. Bonnie jumped in the water.. smart dog..

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201188.jpg

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201189.jpg

On the map it looked like hwy.39 followed the Chattahoochee River north to Columbus but except for 1 large creek we never saw the river again... We did back roads for 163 miles and before we knew it was 4pm and we were still south of Columbus and haven't had anything to eat yet. We stopped at a Hardees and went up Rt. 280 to the end of I-185 and super slabbed it on home.

https://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j356/bdbarnes36/PCB201190.jpg

It was nice to get away for a few days -- found some nice roads -- the doctor says my hearing should return after a couple weeks and of course I got the T-shirt......

Pics: too many harleys, too little bikinis; it is the beach :dntknw:

EDIT: Forgot to say "Nice ride report!" Ride home looked like some nice roads.

I got a kick out of your notes because they matched my reactions in similar settings. There's nothing like being a fish out of water, or a non-HD rider in a sea of identical HD bikes ridden by identical overweight, gray-haired white men wearing black leather o identical HD colthing. (And I am white, and getting to be over weight, but I do not have a grizzled beard or pony tail!)

I took a test ride on the Can-Am back in2008 and totally hated it. I laugh at the ads that have been running during NHL games about how you can get your MC license one day and be out riding the next, because it's so east...you can't drop the Can-Am! Still...let's see a Can-Am pass the MSF training...figure 8 in a parking space, anyone?

Hello Boomer612, Here on our Fine FJR Forum we believe in "paying it forward"! Old Michael taught me how to post pictures, so I will teach you next.

I do not know the exact picture number limit allowable on FJR Forum, but most Ride Report authors stop at a dozen for each posting, for editing ease.

Alright then.. I'm thinking 88 pictures in one post is a little overboard.

I will split it up later.... Thanks.

I seem to have lost my edit buton.. good thing this is only a test report...

I could recopy the whole thing -- split it up and re-post at the bottom.... at least it will have pictures....

but as fate would have it I need to go to work... durn 4 letter words....

I enjoyed your ride report. I like the crisp, Hemingway style, though he may have been a better speller. But that's okay, 'cause speline in opsionul on the forem. JB

That was a good report. Glad you figured the pictures out. We just got home from Laughlin last Sunday. Same deal, different side of the country. I only saw one other FJR while I was there, but know I missed Marcusarelius...so, there were 3 including mine.

Good first RR and picture posting, grasshopper. Still, judging from the babe-age differential between the pic postings of grasshopper and master beemerdon, there remain lessons in pic posting to be learned. ;)

Can't even imagine wanting to be seen on that yellow and white Indian with all the fringe and leather on it. Bleh!
