Seems my riding partner has been spooked. He claims too many close calls on the bike with cagers and wild life forced him to sell his Beemer. So he sold his bike and bought a Miata. I think he got spooked by his wife. Anyway I need a new riding partner. The only ones I can find are Harley and Gold Wing riders. The Harley riders are too much into their image and the GWs are too slow. What should I do? :(

You might start by letting people where you are and a little about yourself. I don't think you will have any trouble finding rides.

What ever the case is, I applaud those who find courage to get off the bikes instead of been pushed and getting killed. it takes more balls to do this then to get into trouble.

It happens.

Don't let him around Mike H. ($$$$)

Check out the regional forums and the new st.n site. Find out who around here is in your area, maybe by posting your area.

Every man dies. Not every man really lives. - My alter ego (one of 'em) Not sayin' it'll never happen to me though. I guess I haven't had enough close calls yet.

Knowin where you are helps :)

Getting spooked is no fun. You roll the dice and takes your chances.

Hey daytripper, You don't mention anything about the HOG riders being too slow. Thats a first on this forum. What color is your bike? If it's blue alot of the folks here could have trouble keeping up also. :derisive:

"Life has a flavor the protected will never know." But if the guy felt it was time to stop riding, he is the only one who can make that call.

IMHO, a Miata is just a false sense of security. A moose will rip it in two...
Funny thing is shortly after he got his Miata, he said he came much closer to hitting a deer than he ever had on his bike.

I just updated my profile. Location info use to be there. It must have got lost in the shuffle somewhere.

At least the HOGs tried to keep up. Yes, I have the blue one. :D

You can't be tense and ride safely. I have read about a number of Miata accidents from driving off mountains, to endo rolling. They have a pretty good account of walking away. TJ

Im about 20 miles east of Charlotte, NC...........most of my fellow mc enthusiast often whimp out on me when we plan rides......a few weeks ago I hit the BRP by myself.......in the mid 40's at the time but so what.......the scenery was worth the trip.

If I didn't have kids soccer games to watch tomorrow I would be heading to the coast for a steak and shrimp dinner............but the kids only grow up once..........so I will just imagine myself there.

I own my own company and have the luxury of taking off during the week days from time to time.............do you work a 9-5 or what....maybe we can plan a trip sometime.

regards
