A favorite lunch spot with a tiny parking lot on the side. Has two sides of parking that are very close with a V-shaped grade and storm drain grate in the center. Turned right into the area, made the next right into the parking lot, picked out a typical spot and suddenly realized it was taken by a baby-cager. Decided to take the first spot instead.

Turn was tight and had to avoid the storm drain. Slant on the pavement required some extra steering angle and lean to make sure I didn't tilt to the outside. Tapped the front brake and sure enough, that sore right elbow collapsed, tucked in a performed a zero-speed drop on the right side. :( :( :angry2:

It was SOOOO embarassing. Cager pulled in behind me and sat with his blinker on while I struggled to get the bike upright. Damn that baby is heavy! Took me three tries. Couldn't use the back-up-to-it method because of the severe pavement slant. Scratched the piss out of my right bag and lower right fairing. Scuff on the mirror but nothing broken or bent. The worst injury was my ego, and that may never be the same.

In 30 years of riding street bikes I have come close, very close! But today was the first time I ever did a zero-speed drop. It sucks! No other way to put it.

can't see what TOG/Slider's you have from the pics... what kind are they, and they appear to have done their job. Did you check the TOG/slider mount for damage?

Forgot to mention the TOGs. No sliders, but Top Gun TOGs. They definitely saved the fairing from breakage. Barely scuffed the right one. Can't look anymore right now to see if the mount screw is damaged. I need a hug!

Came close to doing this on a group ride not to long ago. A steep angled driveway was slected as a gathering/turning around point. The first two bikes pulled in and did not have to deal witht he angle. I had to go up and u turn inside every one. Front brake will make you go down. I made it, but the bike after me did not and kind of hit a sign. Very embarassing, but could have been much worse (broke ankle, into another bike, ect.)

Don't know if it will help anyone, but Ride Like a Pro 4 by a motorcycle cop is great for the slow stuff. May have saved my bike. https://www.ridelikeapro.com/

Jeff,

My heart goes out to ya....ouch....been there done that.

May the remainder of 2007 be more positive.

That is a major bummer. Sorry to hear that.

That front brake will get anyone if the front tire not in the straight line.

LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE.....the bike gods have now had a sacrifice....you shouldn't have another drop for another 30 years :derisive: ....

I can sell you a right front lower and bag that looks just like yours. Sucks moist a-- cheese. Did you jump up and look around to see if anyone saw you. :D

You will do just about anything to get your bike looking like Scab's!!

Just kidding brother, Sorry about the wounds!!

Yep, the secret's out. Scab told me that chiks DO dig scars, just like I've heard all my life. But he clued me in on the scars they dig being Plastic Scars. But Scab, my brother, does losing your virginity have to hurt so much?

:(

Sorry to see your owies Jeff. I almost dropped mine last summer during a slow ride contest in front of a few hundred people. It was half way down and I somehow got it back up without letting it go. I was seriously embarrased but not a much as I would have been if it had hit the pavement.

Anyhow, like Mike-H said, hopefully you're good for another 30 now!

That just sucks ashe.

Remember, there are two kinds of bikers; those who have dropped it, and those that will (at stop or speed).

And see, that is what those rear reflectors are for. Hideous maybe, but came in handy once.

If you are going to drop it.....drop it when you are going fast....you'll have more scars to show off then.

Ugh... I did that about a month ago on mine and it's funny how our scars look exaclty the same. Weird thing is I had no sliders at the time. I've since added them though. I guess I was luckier than I thought to have such little damage without them.

I feel your pain!
