Every Year I plan out a cross country trip and take the FJR out for a little ride. The following pictures are from my September 2009 trip.

Beautiful pics of the scenery, where?

Are all the pics of Wyoming?

Looks like some great roads around those mountains, Thanks.

September is a great time to visit the parks...after the kids are back in school and roads aren't clogged with RV's. Looks like you skated in just before the snows came. Good for you! I've been through those same roads many times. Nice pics and thanks for taking us along.

The trip was great and I learned the following things:

1) They have a huge Harley rally in North Ark around mid September.

2) An FJR can out run a Harley pretty easily.

3) Kansas is flat and I-70 is straight and the most boring road of the whole trip.

4) Camping can be a great experience with a little planning. The more planning the better the experience.

5) Heated Gear, Zumo, Escort, and Air hawk seat will always be mandatory accessorties for all trips.

6) They have extremely honest people in Great Falls Montana. I dropped my wallet out of my tank bag and

a super nice lady found it and mailed it back to me in Lousiana.

7) Always have a back up plan for losing your wallet. Keep an extra credit card in your suit just for emergencies.

8) Wyoming is beatiful and Montana has the largest concentration of road kills of anywhere in the world. I'm

not talking about little animals I'm talking about huge Elk that 18 wheelers have killed. If you are driving at

night and see a red trail starting in your lane watch out because there could be a 500# dead elk 100 yards up the road.

9) When it rains just crash at a hotel and catch up on your sleep.

Thanks for sharing. Great pictures. I try to do the same type of trip each year, only in May.

Thanks for the posting..beautiful scenery. I am currently planning my annual June trip...meeting up with some yankees in Birmingham AL at the Barber Motorsports Raceway, then spening a week riding north GA roads and the Tail of the Dragon area. I plan on travelling along the coast thru LA, MISS, AL, and heading north at Destin FL to get there, then reverse for coming home.

you'd have been a bit better to slide up north to Lincoln, NE and catch I-80. Following the river west across NE is better than 400 miles of not much across KS. I live in KS and have found some beautiful parts but they don't exist along I-70, in my opinion.

thanks for sharing the pictures!

Wow, what a great report. Loved your GNP pictures. I skirted the south side of GNP on US 2, on the way home from BC last June.

Looks like things were starting to get iffy at elevation in September.

I see I'm not the only one that uses a yellow north face :D

Lee B - Thanks for the road advice. I knew there had to be a better way than taking I-70 across Kansas.

Wheaton FJR - This was my first trip using the North Face Duffle bag and I loved it. With all of the connection points

you can strap the bag down anyway you want and also bungee cord connect any thing else on top.

I used it to stuff all my camping gear in and it really worked good.

What a great trip and wonderful pictures. I saw Glacier National Park for the first time last year after WFO. Wonderful riding! One other tip for folks. Two years ago on my way to NAFO I went through the Tetons and Yellowstone: Do not do Beartooth Pass at night with stock headlights. :dribble:

Again, great report!

Another tip, do not go through Beartooth when it's in the low 30s and foggy....

...with your eyes closed. :D

Awesome scenery. Thanks for sharing that trip report.

I sure do hope to do something similar sometime soon...

IMO, you solo trippers have the right idea. How better to experience the incredible beauty of our vast country than on your FJR, at your own pace, and in your own way, following only your own agenda.

You're now on my (short) list of solo trip heroes along with FJReady and AGirl, whom I hope to emulate in my impending 2nd childhood!
