Oy!!!!!!!!

I'm a very bad boy.

I was working on my 05 yesterday and noticed the oil window was low. So I filled it up (1/2 way up the window) and she took almost a quart! The bike has 2100 miles on it, 1500 since its last oil change. Does this seem like abnormal oil consumption? Did I damage the bike by running it so low? I didn't notice any running problems....

Needless to say I will be checking oil level before every ride.

Unless you've been holding it at redline for mile after mile I would doubt seriously if you hurt anything....

I doubt you hurt the bike running it a quart low, but I would be concerned about where the oil went. Is it possible the oil level was like that after the last change? If you really lost a quart of oil in such a short time then check for leaks and take a look at the ends of your mufflers to see if there is any residue there.

I would venture the bike is now almost a quart overfilled. Unless too little was installed at the last change, I seriously doubt it's used that much. The window is notorious for ambiguity, one minute high, the next low. The level is best checked shortly after a ride-this gives the most accurate reading.

I, Mogan, have been charged and summarily convicted by this FJR forum for owning an awesome bike and failing to ride it a respectable amount.

Awaiting sentencing...

On the oil front, doesn't seem to be leaking or burning. I suspect it was low at last change.

If you can see oil in the window, I don't think it was low enough to damage the motor.

Sentencing will be held July 29th, 2006 at the Reno Hilton Grand Courtroom. Failure to appear will result in additional penalties. ;)

1) No steady oil warning light, no worry.
2) Are you a riding buddy with (the MIA) Brundog? ;)
No on both counts. And, I can deal with whatever punishment the forum chooses EXCEPT this pillion crap. If I must go, I will be driving!

I have a legal question for the justices on high court of the supreme council in FJRland.

If I am able to attend Reno and I win the contest for the most farkled FJR, will my sentence be commuted?

Hmmm, lowest mileage and most farkled. Somehow that is not a good combination. Maybe if you show up with cords showing on your tires. :p

Well there you go, there's your problem. You want to be driving, when you should want to be RIDING!

With as little miles as you have, your sentence will be more severe should you win most farkled FJR.

What the heck happened to Brundog anyways? I miss our miles challenged friend. Without him around, poor Mogan may be in trouble. ;)
