Lowered bike needs a shorter center stand

I used to weld UPS trucks back together so I'm confident that I can weld a center stand.
Do UPS trucks routinely break in half so they need to be welded together?

I think you could take abut an inch off as was posted earlier. The only thing you would need to change around is the bump stop and how it hits the tang on the exhaust. You could put the rubber deal on the tube you step on which is about down from where it is now.

Good luck. Post pics.

I've lowered my bike about 3/4" and have not notice a whole lot of difference putting it on the center stand, are you giving it just a little bit of rearward roll when you step on the center stand? I have a bad back and am quite out of shape, but it seems to pop right up for me.

Reply to recent posts - I worked for UPS when they raised the weight limit on packages. As a result, the shelves in the delivery vans needed constant repair. And some frames, too. Spent many an evening burning up welding rods. So welding a center stand should not be that hard.

I used to have a Goldwing so I know how to get a big bike up on its center stand (push down with your foot, don't lift up with your back). It still is very difficult with the lowered suspension to get the FJR on the center stand. If I can modify the stand, why not make it easier? Besides, I need another project.

If all goes well, I will put together a set off directions on how I lowered the seat pan and suspension to get my butt closer to the ground.
