So.., wife still waxing the floor by the beer fridge with Crisco Howie ?

Good going Seventyss. If she was going to be unhappy anyway, at least your not !

Got my first ride on an FJR today and agreed to purchase for the asking price.

Sweet! Why don't you make a deal with your good lady? If she passes the MSF class, she can borrow your bike alternate weekends. I let Andy use mine to commute on, on the days when his BMW just isn't doing it for him. Keeps the peace around here.

Sorry about the link expiration, here is the particulars:

2009 FJR1300A-Loaded-$11,500.

"In perfect condition with 4,700 miles on it. It includes the following: Yamaha YES full warranty through 4/2/2014, factory trunk, Cee Baileys windshield (+3"wide, +2" tall w/lip), GeeLong carbon fiber tank protector, sliders, Powerlet outlet in fairing, factory service manual, fender extender and a brand new set of Michilen Pilot Road 2 tires (not installed). This bike is better than a new one-4 times the warranty all the accessories and a new of tires ready to go"

I will pick it up on Tuesday night, can't wait.

Wife will be getting new paint and carpet (and whatever else to total $11,500), which I'm fine with since the house needs that stuff anyway and she has always allowed me to buy all the toys that I want. She is a peach and will stop being grumpy in a day or two.

Thanks to all for your kind replies of congratulations.

Your '09 is a great deal - trunk, a spare set of tires and all!!! However make absolutely certain that tthere are no liens on it before you let your money go.

I didn't want to hijack the thread, but since this about 'a deal', it shouldn't be too far off topic - so here gores:

i want to be an american with your pricesi just paid 20500$ canadian for a 2010 and most dealers up here wont sell one for less then 23900$
I have no idea where in Canada you are located, but since MSRP on the 2010 is $20,199 (the '09 was $100 cheaper and the '08 again $100 cheaper than the '09) , these things aren't exactly flying out of the showrooms and there's a cashback program ($600 on the 2010, $1500 on the '09 - $1700 on the '09 AE and $2000 for the '08's - they still have those in the warehouse, by the way) I fail to see why anyone should have paid higher than list (never mind the cashback) for the machine?

You can combine the rebate with advantageous finance rates for the prior model year bikes as well.

Admittedly we DO get some rather expensive features the Americans don't; Heated grips; a key that doesn't bend that is part of the immobiliser system and access to some accessories that the Americans do not (like those great foot guards and handguards), though we DO have to buy sidecase bags from someone south of the border (or pay the too high price to Yamaha Canada).

We also get to pay almost $1500 for a 4 year YPP, which is a poor cousin to the YES program, though mine has paid for itself in headlight reflectors alone.

But $23,900?

Depending on where you are, your deal was decent to pretty good, but don't fool yourself into believing that anyone sane would give a Canadian dealer $23,900 for a new FJR.

Tax included in Alberta it would be $21,208.95 and in Quebec (where I am intimately familiar with the sales tax rate) it would be $22,799.63 (plus $6 in tire disposal fees) AT FULL LIST PRICE - and since you get the rebate, no one should be paying that price to begin with. Based on what I paid for my '06 I figure I could pay my local dealer slightly less than $17,000 plus taxes, but it all depends on your negotiating skills and how hungry the dealer is.

Yes, you can make a deal South of the border now that the US dollar has sunk to parity with the Canadian - but you will have to pay 6% iimport duties and you will lose your warranty for doing it - depending on how much you save (and it sounds like about $5K, which covers a fair amount of dealer work) it might well be a worthwhile exercise.

She's a beauty [the bike, can't speak as to your wife]. My wifey was miffed too when I bought the FJR so I got her a new living room set and that shut her up.. Cost me almost as much as the dmn bike! but worth it..
Before you shell out the big bucks, try flowers and dinner.........................

sorry for the highjack

i shoudl have mentioned those prices are out the door

i shopped 5 yami dealers locally and 2 south of the border for the cheepest price of 20500$ cash sale

next cheapest was 23900$

i just find we as canadians are being hosed when south of the border you can get essentially the same product for so much less

this fellows 2009 for 11500$ with all those farkles warranty and low miles just seems like such a smokin deal to me

i know i could have gotten an 09 for a few bucks less however i really wanted the 2010 with the pretty paint

not alot of fjrs to be had around here on the dealer floors nor used unless they are really well used

im pretty content with my purchase but seeing the prices the americans pay raises some questions especially on a bombardier or can am product witch is a canadian company our government has bailed out and we still pay more for that product then they do south of us

however thats another thread all together

enjoy your new fjr i know im loving mine

congradulations on the new bike. you will like it alot. wifey will get over it.

you got a good price, considering the add-ons, extended warranty, tires, etc. Just for others out there looking for a deal, I got an 08 ae this january 8. brand new. paid $10,735 out the door plus sales tax and tabs which included 2 years YES from the local Yamaha dealer. Sweet deal, I think.

Don't know if there are any more out there, but evidently yamaha repo'd a bunch of bikes, all kinds from dealers floor stock when they went belly-up. and then auctioned them off to dealers still in business. They came with zero factory warranty, hence if you wanted any warranty, you had to buy it. the bike actually was $10,140 and I added a 2 year YES warranty for an additional $595. Since the bike was considered "used" because it had no factory warranty, that was the most YES i could buy. by the way, i was on ebay and put in "fjr warranty" and saw a couple of dealers advertising on there that if you were still under the FACTORY one year warranty, you could buy the YES extended for up to 4 years i think, and the prices were really good. check it out, if you are still covered under the original one year factory warranty and you want to add some more.

Now, not that your wife is not appreciative of all you do for her, but mine WANTED me to buy the bike, and I have 2 others in the stable, a yamaha v-star 1300 and suzuki m50. go figure that out. she said, "you can't take it with you". hard to argue with that logic.

Congrats and welcome to the club.... !!!!
