Hey All !

Mounted a video camera on my FJR and set out for a long, long ride. Completed 3800 miles in 6 days.

The first 36 hours was the Bun Burner challenge (1500 miles in 36 hours)

I used a software program that my wife purchased to make a video. Certain powers that be did not approve of my soundtracks. (copywright infringement I suppose)

Had to pick a lame authorized video track to replace it so don't give me grief about the music please.

Anyhow... for your viewing pleasure:

My 3800 miles trip was : Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Alberta CA, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Minnesota and back to Wisconsin. Left on a Saturday and home by Thursday mid afternoon.

Thanks for checking it out !

Well, that was very interesting. Very first of it's kind for me.

Sapps at Yubytuby wouldn't let your music flow...For a while I was waiting for Charlie Chaplain to pop on the screen.

.

.Congrats on finishing your SS/BB1500...that's always cool.

That camera stayed pretty steady on the mount...was it on the tank?

.

It was some beautiful riding weather, there were a lot of bikers out and about; that's always encouraging to one attempting a LD ride, IMO.

.

.Nicely done.

Thanks!

Mounted the camera on a Ram mount attached to the steering stem. Worked well. Darn bugs though. Couldn't clean the windshield often enough.

Had some awesome music picked out but hey, oh well. Still cool to share with everyone.

Yup, the weather was decent. Did pass through some rain and had to put the video camera away for the periods of time.

Hey Eworth, I really REALLY enjoyed your video! I've made several moovies myself - and I liked your changing of camera angles, and... well, I really liked all the hawgs you saw on the ride too! Nicely done - kudos sir!

Hey...I thought that music was pretty Groooovy! With the sounds of scared sheep, I was thinking this was a tribute to Bustanut!

Curious about your camera type and mount config? I just off'd my GoPro 'cuz I got tired of the bullshit ergos. Looking for better ideas, now.

Congrats on the accomplishment!

Thanks guys for the kind words. The music I had picked out REALLY made it better but still, I had a blast in doing the editing. 1 hour of video cut down to 5 minutes.

I'll try to snap a photo of the camera set up to show how I did it. It's my wife's video camera. Although it worked well, I'd like to look into getting one with an "audio in" feed where I could set up a mic in my helmet for some narrations of cool things I see along the way. Will look into that.

Anyhow, a photo is forthcoming this weekend.

Thanks!

I'll check that other video site DCARVER. Never heard of it.

dcarver asked about the camera set up.

5.25" ram ball "arm", steering nut with ram ball mount, ram ball mount to connect to vid. camera/ or camera. Just add a video camera and you're set. Mine has digital video tapes that are 1 hour long. Perfect for this I think.

The only thing I'd do differently is put black electrical tape on the speedometer bezel to cut down on glare on the windshield that you can see in the video.

I can send the photos in an email if interested in a couple pics. For some reason, can't figure out how to post the photos. :angry2:

The music on the video sounds like music from a 70's porn. :chickawow: Good video set up though.

Enjoyed the video eworth, thanks for the post. Great job on the BB1500...you are going to document this, right?

Thanks! and YUP.. Sent in all the paperwork with receipts for gas, signed statements from witnesses at beginning at the ends of the Saddlesore and Bunburner. Sent out express mail today.

I really enjoyed the adventure. The Bunburner was just the beginning. I then went to Calgary, Banff and Jasper National Parks, then on to Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Duluth (Aerostich for a broken zipper on my overpants) Then home.

3800 miles in 6 days. I'll never forget it.
