Okay, here's the deal. I am supposed to take delivery of my new blue "baby" sometime this week theoretically and the dealer is pushing hard on the Routine Priority Maintenance Program. This $1100 program takes care of all of the scheduled maintenance for the FJR for a period of three years including unlimited oil changes, 30 to 40% off of the normal service rates and free winter and summerization two times per year. It also includes 10% off of all parts and accessories for the three years too! The other program is the extended warranty program through McGraw. This is sorta like the YES program and is priced at around $600. I know that there are a lot of really smart guys on this forum who are way more mechanically inclined than me but my question is " if you were not mechanically inclined, were going to ride about 5 to 8k per year, would you feel like this $1600 investment was a good thing to consider?"

thanks for helping out a born again newbie!

Hell NO!

99 out of the next 100 posts will say the same thing. Why do you think they are pushing it so hard? BIG TIME profit for them.

What if you move? What if you sell your FJR? What if you are touring? Heaven forbid, what if you crash and total it?

Get the 4 year Y.E.S. warranty for $389. Learn to do your own oil changes (It's easier than a car on this bike for crying out loud). And find another dealer for everything else.

10% off parts?!?!?!? You gotta be kidding me. BFD! Osama bin Laden could get a better discount. Get your parts through Gary McCoy at University Motors, or FJRGoodies, and save 30-50%.

just as I thought. I am going to take your advise. Thanks for setting DFP straight!!! :)

Guess I should amend my first post to:

"One out of the next one posts will say the same thing."

Still good advice though.

Not sure if i can second through hundredth, but +1

Y.E.S. - Yes

Maintenance program - No.

Also, I'd rather pay good money for and experienced mechanic that knows FJR's, than whoever the dealer sticks on your job (probably the FNG), to save more $$.
