'Didn't know if this was "Parts and Accesories" or not but here goes...

Maisto makes a Yamaha officially licensed 1:12 '06 FJR Model Kit, about nine dollars (Toys 'R US). It looks pretty good from a distance. I was happy to find it because I didn't think there would ever be an FJR model kit due to relatively low production numbers and probably not having as high mass appeal as the sportbike model kits. Anyway it's fun to have it on my office desk at work.

'Just an FYI in case anyone might be interested.

Wouldn't happen to be the European model?

Yep, I should have known. Those aren't just aftermarket stripes. In my original post I almost made a crack about the FJR being originally intended exclusively for the European market and we were lucky to get the model kit here too. That thought was closer to the truth than I thought.

My dealer's salesman gave me one as a gift for being a great customer. I thought he bought it like that, but maybe he built it. Color doesn't quite match my cerulean silver, but it's nice. Sidestand works, handlebars turn, wheels turn too, rear suspension works; nice bike. I'll snap a pic when I find my camera.

They ARE Plastic and come painted that way.

Dang!!! We went through all this awhile back. These things have issues and are definitely not a 50 state bike...It won't pass CA seismic standards. The side stand folds up with the smallest tremor...If you put it on your desk for a day it will be on its side. I am sure someone can find you a link to previous threads showing the devestation :dribble:

you can always repaint.
is it plastic or metal?
Part is diecast, part is plastic. I did paint some for detail to standout. I thought about getting another one and airbrushing it to a reasonable facsimile of black cherry, but it's probably not worth it. This model has little to none of the detail, accuracy, and quality of a Level 5 Revell Vincent Black Shadow C Series, for instance.

It's just a fun little conversation starter, and in spite of the quality issues I'm still delighted to have an FJR on my desk.

I may just buy one myself and add it to the Repsol Honda #69 thats been sitting on my desk. :D

I got one, assembled it, and it wasn't 10 minutes later my hands were numb and it was giving off an awesome amount of heat. The detail is awesome.

I got one in silver.

I like it so much, I bought another one like the blue pic above to give away at the EOM.

B) :derisive:

I've heard quality is hit or miss. But, mine was perfect. Everything was an exact fit.

I have the blue one with the white stripe.

It is pretty nice except for the European paint sceme.

It sits next to my Suzuki TLR and Ducati 900SS

As to the sidestand folding up, so did the one on my 07 the second week I had it. Ground 1/8" off stop to keep it from laying down on the sliders and bags agaon

You mean 1/96th?

Hey Blackarrow

I picked one up at Walmart about 3 weeks ago. They had both the gray & blue w/ white European stripes. I put it together and liked the way the stripes looked so I order the stripes for my 06 bike as well. The difference is that the model's stripes are white & mine are gray.

I need to order a few mods for the model now, Do you know if they make a V-stream windshield for the model? JK

My wife just so happened to drag me to wal-mart today...(i hate hate hate hate hate shopping) and I saw one and she let me get it. Wal-mart had both the blue and silver for $7. So garauld has the paint match, we can have him send small vials of it for a nominal fee....nudge nudge.
