Had a great ride with all! My day started early morning meeting Slappy in La Mesa at 6am. We met up with others from the San Diego area at the rest stop at the southend of Camp Pendleton. We had an uneventful quick trip to Long Beach with my leadership skills tested but getting us to Long Beach early. FJR's started showing up from all over Southern California
We Had a slow start with crews pouring concrete at the top of the bridge heading out of Long beach. We made the best of it and soon were headed thru San Pedro and into the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Things were still a bit slow with lots of runners, bikers, and Sat morning activities in that area. Down PCH through Torrance, Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan,El Segundo, Venice, Santa Monica...........We love it! The group was gettin good at stickin together through the cages and lights. The canyons should be easy right? Ah well the cool ocean breeze was nice compared to some of our last extreme weather group rides.
Finaly some canyon riding the group had been waiting for. We weren't disappointed! Simon, Thanks for an excellent job mapping out this area and executing! We had a good break at the Rock Store. Socialized with some of the locals . Had a great lunch at Malibu Seafood. Even more twisties after lunch then broke up for the ride home.
I spent the night with my family in Redondo. I left the next day with my daughter the long way to Orange County to visit my brother in Ladera Ranch. The black top qualityis much better down south. I took S18 & S19 through Santiago and Trabuco Canyons. We visited there, ate, watched a movie/nap. Then I headed home by myself over 74 Ortega Hwy, down the backside of Lake Elsinore, out 76 along the base of Mt Palomar, through Mesa Grande socializing with some of the local cows and saw a Bobcat cross the road, caught the sunset between San Isabel and Ramona, then made it home to El Cajon in the dark. 500+ miles.
Thanks to everyone for a fantastic ride! Let's do it again. I've posted some pictures of our ride and my extended trip home at:
