Wonder how much it cost Mayfield to get released. I've read on either a LEO or attorney forum that it can cost upwards of $100,000 even if it's "obvious" your shooting in self defence.

Assailant's name is in the article.

A year and a half of his life is what it cost him to protect himself and his daughters.

About 15 years ago it cost my buddy $15,000 for getting out of a justified shooting. In NY if you shoot someone, regardless of the circumstances, you will be prosecuted.
