Yup, looking at the $$$ heavy Tempur-Pedic memory foam mattresses and came across this comparo vid (NWS).

Anybody got feedback, wisecracks, slurs, experiences, or **** to give w/ their memory foam experiences?

Okay. I'll bite.

We took advantage of their trial offer some years back and tried the Temper-Pedic mattress for about 4 months. Ended up returning it. The problem is that you have to sleep on it, and we found the mattress just too hard (we'd wake up with sore hips). Their memory foam required you body heat to activate with the upshot that kind of get "stuck" in one sleep position, thus eliminating the "tossing and turning" normal on other mattresses.

On the plus side, the customer support folks at Temper-Pedic were great. They were very understanding and took the mattress back with no problem.

Your mileage may vary...

I've got the memory foam mattress made by the folks with sheep on the logo. We absolutely love this thing. We are side-sleepers that were experiencing numbness in the hips, back pain, and such on conventional mattress. No more. The mattress is supportive and does not leave us in a 'hole.' We wouldn't have anything else. The wife adds; she has fibro-myalgia (however you spell it) and this mattress has helped her tremendously. My back and neck hardly ever bother me anymore.

I've got the same matress that Scab has apperently, sheeps on it. It has a few inches of Tempur material on top, and it's been great for me. I tryed the full Tempur matress in the store, and I didn't care for it to much.

I just bought my daughter the sealy brand (no sheep, thats serta) It was a few 100 less than temperpedic and as the salesman said (true or not) they sealy use a diff foam than temper. Appearently the temper foam holds in heat and makes you hot were as the sealy does not.

My daughter gives it a thumbs up

Best deals are found online, including free ship and no tax. My local store guaranteed lowest price to meet anyone including internet could not match internet if you factored in another $100 for taxes on $1100. it just depends on how you pinch your pennies

We got a Sleep-number bed a few years ago... best thing I ever did for my lower back, which hasn't gone south on me during the intervening time. Wife's side of the bed is like a marshmallow... mine is just past middle firmness. Get a great night's sleep...

we got the 11" thick tempur foam by Seally. or however you spell it. Best matress I ever had. I sleep better and never get sore from the bed like I used to.

We got the "King Koil" brand which is a knockoff of the tempur-pedic and it's OK. Supposed to be 2nd in that category but to me it develops depressions that make it kind of uncomfortable after a while. Its a full memory foam mattress like Tempur-pedic whereas some of these others are more conventional with a real thick layer of this memory foam on top.

We tried the tempr pedic and found it to be a little warm as well, a little too firm on top of that....if I had to do it all over again I'd go with the Sealy's/Sertas that have the more conventional mattress with the thick layer of memory foam on top. My inlaws have one of those and it is very comfortable.

I bought a Tempur-pedic "clone" about five years ago and love it. It has air holes on the top layer so it "breathes" unlike the Tempur. Go to Google and search - there are lots of places selling memory foam mattresses for MUCH less than a Tempur. I believe my California King mattresses delivered to my door was a little over half-price from a Tempur.

It's funny, when we were looking at the Tempur the salesman told us the only reason people had returned them was because they were hot to sleep on. That lost the Tempur sale to me. Our neighbors have a Tempur and they say it can be hot to sleep on also.

We had a water bed for many years and I loved it but my wife's back started bothering her so I reluctantly went to the memory foam mattress. Good news is, from the first night forward we both slept like babies and never once had a thought about waking up sore or tired.

Why am I not surprised Scab is sleeping w/sheep

We have the Tempur-pedic. Been sleeping on it for about 3 years now.........cant sleep on another mattress of any kind now. Hotel mattresses cause me problems.

I think it's all a Tempur-pedic conspiracy to take over the world. damn them!

Like mine alot!

I am shopping for a new bed myself. I slept on a sleep number bed a couple of times at my brother's place and that's what I want. Which model do you have?

Burner thanks for starting this thread. My wife and I were just out looking at beds the other day and this has answered a lot of the questions we had. Stan

Dang, Scab. Did you get paid for that endorsement?

We have a mattress made by Symbol and we love it. Not as hard as a "Tempoor" but we like it that way.

We bought a Sleep-Number bed about 3-years ago and absolutely love it. Ours is one of the pillow-top models with a small layer of memory foam in the top. It's great to be able to adjust it for exactly the level of comfort you need from day to day. Highly recommended.
