Visit www.ride4kids.org for specifics - but general info - May 7, meet at the Honda Headquarters building in Torrance. Quick escorted ride around the South Bay with approx 1,000 bikes - what an event for a GREAT CHARITY!

Every year the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation in conjuction with Cycle World Magazine and Honda Motor Corp. sponsers a series of fund raising rides (37 rides this year) across the country called The Ride for Kids (https://www.ride4kids.org/). I'm sure some of you have been involved in the past, as there are five in California alone. I will be attending the Ride for Kids in Torrance (Los Angeles) on May 7 and invite all to attend. I have been impacted by this insidious diease (my daughter Amanda), and it was categorically the worst time of my life. Please take a few moments to visit Ride for Kids site.

If for some reason you are unable to attend an event, could I still request your support? If you would take another moment to visit the (my) below site and help if you are able too. Again, it is for one of the best causes there is ---- THE KIDS!

Best Regards,

Mike York

Mike, I'll see you there. I'll be following two disabled kids in sidecars.

I won't be hard to find - Hi-Viz Roadcrafter on my 06 A. Say Hi if you see me !!

Hal

I will keep an eye out for you, no I don't believe you will be to hard to find! I will be with my daughter who will be wearing a "survivor" T-Shirt I believe. Don't know if I will get placement up towards the front or not (hope so). I will either be on my FJR or maybe the BMW K-75, not sure yet.

Just show up - you can register on site. However, no credit cards will be taken at registration, just cash or checks - made out to; Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. The ninimum amount to participate in the Ride 4 Kids event is $35.00 per motorcycle. Again, check out www.ride4kids.org -- has all the info on the event(s).

Regards -

Great Larry! Hey, if you want to ride up there together (my daughter will probably follow in her car) we certatinly can. Will probably leave around 7am. I plan on having breatfast at IHOP in Carson (Carson & Avalon) at about 8, then on to registration, around 8:45. Afterwards, I'm thinking or riding up to a good friends 60th Birthday Bash at Lions Park in Carpinteria, if your interested. I will have to try to control myself though (difficult) so I will have a chance to make it home in one piece. So that is my plan such that it is! If its too complicated --- see ya there!

Where do you want to meet? How about 7am at the Starbucks at El Toro & Valencia in Laguna Hills? I posted the ride on the other forums, so I can invite more riders to join.

Looks like I'll be free to go, You still going to be at the IHOP?

Mike,

I won't be there after all - the ride with my disabled boys has been rescheduled. So - I've donated to the cause.

You're making a difference - keep up the good work !!

It was a great ride (and cause) for those of you who missed it! Thanks for coming Rogue - sorry I didn't get to spend much time talking with you. I look forward to next time our paths cross. The police escorted ride lasted about and hour and a half around the South Bay area, primarily Palos Verdes. Great ocean views, and a little bit overcast, but that kept the heat level down and the riding comfort factor up! I was riding near the front of the pack with VIP treatment as my daughter is a survivor, so I didn't get the same sense of actually how large the crowd (of bikes) was (last year I rode probably a 3/4 of the way back in the pack). I did see the motor cops who were blocking intersections and side streets signal several times with both hands raised and all fingers extended to the waiting people/motorists. I pretty sure they were signaling that there would be approximately a 10 minute wait for pack to move through. As you would expect there some some disgusting looks from some of the waiting motorists, but they were the minority. Most were waving and honking their horns. This is an annual event in the South Bay and although the route was different (much better) this year most residents I'm sure support the ride and the cause. I suppose there was again around 1,000 bikes on the ride, an impressive sight. The good news is the event raised approximately $321,000 (vs. $214,000 last year - and the goal for this year was $220,000) for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. What a great time! What a great cause! I will give you all plenty of notice prior to next years ride! Remeber there are 37 of these ride across the country this year, visit www.ride4kids.org for more information.

I joined TWN and Ojai Roy with 8 other bikes from Cal Coast Riders club. My first time for this event and I was quite impressed by the level of organization and the volunteer staff who all seemed cheerful. During the mostly slow pace, I envied those motor officers playing leapfrog and kept wondering when I last checked my radiator reservoir as 4-bars frequently displayed accompanying the song-of-fan. Vistas along Palos Verdes, especially the bluffs looking out to PV Point were stunning!

The Cal Coast group stayed after lunch and we listened to speeches and all the interviews of the survivor kids, including of your daughter (not so young as she is now in college). A truly interesting day and worthwhile cause!
