With my wife out of town, I hunkered down in the garage this weekend... starting after work on Friday til midnight then all day Saturday and finished up with a test ride today after a few more hours of work.
This install focused on an MCCruise install for my 08 AE, but while I had the bike apart, I planned on a Fuzeblocks install, double powerlet install, Garmin 660 install and a 90 second install of HVMP heavy bar ends. I got everything installed and the bike is all back together.
Here is the crazy part and the real reason for this post... on Friday I posted a message on the boards here about a Scala G4 power set purchase and I got a note from Greb (Justin) on the forum here where he picked up on the fact that he lives close to me in Utah, about 8 miles actually from me here in Northern Utah. That was cool, but then I poked around at his previous forum posts and see that he just installed a MCCruise a few weeks back?? Nutty! What are the odds of that... Greb has a 08 Black FJR that he just did an MCCruise in stall a few weeks ago... crazy coincidence.
So with the crazy coincidence, Greb and I exchange phone numbers Saturday morning and chuckled about the fact that he just installed his MCCruise. Greb decides out of the blue to drive out on his bike Saturday afternoon after doing some work of his own. Greb shows up just as I was getting close to installing CIU on the MCCruise, which is one of the more painful parts of the install. Greb just when through it and helped save me a TON of time.
So how is that for a coincidence out of the blue due to the FJR forums here... I wouldn't call Utah the mecca of FJR riders, but the planets really lined up on this and talk about the common interest riding bikes create. I wouldn't know Greb from Adam right? But a personal message or two is exchanged on the forum here and Greb shows up ready to give some other FJR rider a hand on an install he did a few weeks ago!
I'm sure this is common across the board here, but kudo's to Greg... I know he doesn't need to hear it, but I must toss out a big thanks to Greb for stopping by and lending a hand sight unseen! Owning a bike creates instant trust and a desire to lend a hand.
I had a great weekend! I won't talk about the cost of all the farkles though... however it was worth it.
