My friend, Brian/R1Rated, and I had been talking about getting together for a little jaunt... in fact, we talked about it for months but never did it! lol But finally, schedules and weather collided in a positive manner and the game was on...

First things first... coffee and catch up...

When we first arrived, it was overcast and looked like it might even sprinkle a little... but we sat and chatted for about 2 hours, giving the sun a chance to burn off those clouds and come out with its hat on (musical interlude)...

Spring is definitely sproinging everywhere...

We headed up 152 and turned onto Pole Line Rd... I love this huge tree at the intersection of Pole Line and Mt. Madonna Rd... its weathered many a storm and is still standing... my kind of tree...

Before heading down Mt. Madonna Rd., I remembered that there was a monastery somewhere on Summit Rd. that I had seen photos of but never seen myself... since time wasn't an issue, away we went on Summit Rd... but first stopped to smell the flowers... big patch of daffodils...

Summit Rd. then gets quite narrow and bumpy/goaty... I was getting a little worried that I had missed it when, voila!! I found Buddha!!!

Hard to be sad around the happy Buddha...

Until we came to rest in the bustling beach town of Capitola for a late lunch...

After lunch, Brian headed south for Marina and I headed for home via San Jose-Soquel Rd. and Old Santa Cruz Hwy... blessedly empty of other vehicles, I had the roads to myself and thoroughly enjoyed a spirited romp toward home...

Great ride with a great friend and Buddha to boot! :cool

FIN

Very Zen Ms. Tyler.

It's interesting how the Buddha goes from being a lean guy to a pot bellied fat guy as the legend translates from India to China.

Indian Buddha..

Maybe there is more than one Buddha... separated at birth perhaps?

No, it's the same Buddha. Just was morphed to appeal to the adopting culture. Not unlike White Jesus..

Wait... you mean... GASP!!! ;)

Really nice, Tyler. There's something about Capitola. Always just feels good to be in that vicinity.

Some sorta vibe, I suppose.
It does have some sorta vibe, OM (kinda like you... :D )... and luckily it's only about 45 minutes away via freeway... or 4-8 hours away via backroads!! ;)

Tyler you ever take a bad picture?

Cool Chinese temple lions, gaurdians of the temple, castle, home. You need the set though male & female to make them work.

What you have in the pic is the female. You can tell 'cause shes got her mouth open.

This is one of the framed credentials I keep on the wall in my office. It not only features a photo of the Capitola Pier but also framed is one of our club jacket patches, and trunk patches. I was in high school back then (1964-1967). It was a time of well(?)... it was different then than now.

Nothing like a Ms. Tyler ride report. I admire your photography. You see things to photograph most never do. Thanks for posting.

Excellent pictures as always. Maybe the Buddha thing is an old Buddha and young Buddha thing, you know, kinda like young lean Elvis and old fat Elvis?

Funny, it took me a second to switch gears as I almost skipped this thread. I'd just left my MINI board and Mellow Yellow is the color of my car and because they are British, the trunk is the boot. Too many similarities in the title. Of course then I saw "Tyler" and my mouse just moved all on it's own to click and open the amazing photos.

Nice report. Sometimes I wish I lived in CA.

So many nice places to ride.
