Is anyone available on Sat. afternoon, Sunday, or Monday(Memorial Day) who knows a few good roads in Wisconsin and wants to tool around the southern half of the state(weather permitting)?

Kris in Milwaukee area

Breadman,

I'm interested...however my schedule is iffy because of work right now. If I'm able to swing it, it would be an early Sat am meetup in western WI with an all day ride then slabbing back to Wheaton. That way there would be enough twisties to make it worth it.

If you're looking for possible roads, you might want to check the WI Motorcycling website. Google will get you there...

Wheaton,

I have to work until noon or 1 P.M. Sat. I am free after that for the rest of the weekend. If you have time constraints I could come closer to your neck of the woods if necessary. Let me know.

Looks like this weekend may have iffy weather, if I go...it would be an all day ride for me to the triangle of twisties between La Crosse, Prairie du Chen & Hillsboro.

Takes me about 3 hours up, 5 hours riding fun stuff & 3 hours back plus breaks..

I might be interested in this ride. What time would you be leaving Wheaton?

I was thinking of leaving Wheaton at 6:30am...to get an early start to what would be a LONG day.

I will be checking weather...and if it looks like Sat will be bad weather and Sun good weather, I would look to ride on Sunday...though the wifey doesn't like that. I see Sunday would be better for breadman...so if the weather looks bad for Saturday, I will switch it to Sunday.

Also, if you do come, I would probably just meet you at an oasis on the Northwest Tollway west of the US 20 cross over I believe. That way you wouldn't have to roam through suburbia. I will confirm the meeting time an location with you. I will also check out a meeting spot for the breadman if it works out for him.

Actually Sunday would probably work better for me. I may have to go the Hardly Ableson store and git some parts for my Veeerod. But Saturday is ok too.

That's funny Skip, little 'ol me bein' the rabbit  Now THAT'S funny.

Actually, this is not MY thread...I was just letting breadman no when I was available. I am prepared to go Sunday unless there is rain in the forecast. Right now...I think Sat/Sun are still iffy weatherwise.

Just my .02

I checked weather forecasts for LaCrosse, Dubuque, Madison, and Rockford and they all have rain possible overnight Sat. but no rain for Sun. I understand it's a bit early to rely on that info. This will be my first group ride of any kind in fifteen years so I'm pretty excited!!

BTW, is this the only way you guys generally set up outings(by posting)? I am not very techno savvy but if a phone call would help to finalize plans as the weekend approaches then I'm all for it.

Usually posting is good enough to get the job done. However if more info is needed...personal messages (PM)will be sent with additional information. I don't have a cell phone, but you can PM me your phone number if you want me to call you to "talk" things out.

I will try to post up a tentative route...I anticipate that we would meet you IN DODGEVILLE. I will work on that after I post up the route.

Wheaton & griff--- this guy needs to be taken to a Hooterville 400 if he enjoys excitement. Dog & Suds is THE place to hang out. Good thing the next one is a year away... give the town folks time to settle down and bring their daughters back from hiding.

That would be great if you mapped out a tentative route! The closer to Illinois border we meet, the better(it can be farther south, southeast than Spring Green). Let me know which towns will work best for meeting and I'll pick one.

Enclosed is an "All you can eat" tour of twisties from Wheaton back to Wheaton with a stopping point in Dodgeville, WI to meet/join up 10am - leave at 10:15 to 10:30

From Dodgeville it winds up north via 23 to 133 to 60 to E to 171 to 35 to 82 to 56 to 131 to P to 162...then slab. It is a long route with 162 miles to Dodgeville, then 462 miles back to Wheaton for a total of 624 miles. Unfortunately only about 2 to 300 miles of those are "good roads".

I am afraid that this is too much of a ride unless you love to "ride till you drop". Therefore, I should probably just figure on a route meeting in Dodgeville at the McDs and do a smaller loop out to West WI and back so nobody "drops dead" from riding too much.

So...IS IT TOO MUCH?!!

Griff,

I am almost positive this is too long for you coming from NW Indiana...therefore I can do a shorter loop out west to the MI River via 171 and come back east via 179 or something so you don't do a 900 mile day or sumpin.

Yeah, a 900 mile day doesn't excite me. And by the way, zzzipp, I am getting more chrome for my veeerod so that even if it doesn't ride good at least it looks good. :D
