I had a thoroughly enjoyable 205 mile ride on my '06 yesterday. Just after leaving the H-D/Buell dealer up in Kalamazoo, MI what should I spot but another blue '06! So we stopped and chatted for a few minutes. He was liking his, too....aaahmazinn I say!! LOL! Despite the seat not fitting me very well the bike is still quite comfy, reasonably fast and handles far better than my '03 did. The other bike had 200 some miles and was purchased from a Yamaha dealer in Coloma, MI on 29 April. I finally turned the 1K mark yesterday, to much work and not enough riding considering I got my bike 31 March.
Unlike my FJR's saddle the saddle on the new Buell Ulysses that I tried fit extremely well. Methinks Buell finally has a winner with that bike. That bike left a very favorable impression, but nooo thoughts of tradinn the FJR......however, one may find itzz way home to my Toy Room eventually.
The rest of my ride continued to be enjoyable despite the 40F temps when I left @ 8a.m. My Gerbing jacket liner and gloves combined with the bodywork kept me quite comfy heatwise. I did notice while on the Interstate from Kalamazoo over to Paw Paw, MI that the stock windshield gets marginal when being blasted by dirty air off of semis at 80-90 per. However the worst dirty air was spilling off a Chrysler Pacifica, used a bit of throttle and flew by that thing rapidly.
So we were on sorta twisty 2 lane backroads, main highways and I road in temps from 40F to @ 60 F and the bike performed and handled flawlessly. The more I ride her the happier I am to have this bike, my 77th. She is quickly rising to the top of my favorite bikes! My mileage was a bit over 38, not bad given the few miles on the bike and the speeds I was moving. Wotta GR8 day! DFO
