From an article in Northwest Cycle News;

Christopher Robert Church is on trial for vehicular assault, third-degree assault and leaving the scene of an accident. The charges stem from a February 13 crash on Machias Road involving a group of motorcycle officers returning home from a training exercise.

The pickup and trailer that Church was driving drifted across the centerline and struck Lynnwood motorcycle officer Scott Dilworth, causing sever injuries. Another officer, Cory Cook of Snohomish was also injured.

Claiming that he did not know that his trailer had struck anyone, Church continued driving with other officers from the group in pursuit. Church finally stopped some distance down the road. A blood test taken after the collision showed that Church had taken methamphetamine.

In a novel strategy, defense attorney Michael Jones offered that his client had not been speeding. As for the methamphetamine, Jones told the jury that the drug is a stimulant, not a depressant like alcohol.

“It’s not something to cause you to be a bad driver,” Jones said of the drug. “It causes you to be a better driver.”

He came up with the idea for that line of defense after ruminating for 83 hours straight.

As much as I loathe meth and it's affects, this legal strategy may have some legs. Think about it, the US Military used (or maybe still uses) amphetamines for pilots.

And this (now) religion-bashing thread is still open because....maybe because nobody has posted an opposing opinion yet? :unsure: :blink:

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

I'm just (still) trying to figure out the rules, or more specifically, how they're applied.

While I'm on that subject, I'll offer my opinion of how they should be applied. IMHO, admins shouldn't have to run around policing the content of this forum. If there's a disagreement that leads to a conflict, the affected members should attempt to resolve it through PM (not unlike "taking it outside" in the physical realm). Failing that, agree to disagree and move on, or move out.

Let's be adults and not force the house hosts to run an adult day-care facility.

If a discussion devolves to a point where people are offended, they can report it to the admin staff by clicking a button. Admins have much better things to do than filter all the text that pops up here, like painting the balloons on the member map to match our motorcycles, making a living, setting up a killer group buy, BBQ, etc...

+1. I THINK we're all adults here. But I might be wrong. :p There shouldn't be any reason why 2 or more people can't have a discussion with opposing viewpoints, as long as it stays civil. I actually like to discuss subjects with opposing ideas, I think it opens your mind, and makes you reanalyze your side. It happens all the time with oil, gas, farkles, etc. I do actually agree with the "no politics" rule, because this is supposed to be an FJR forum, not Yahoo chat. Have fun all, I'm going riding.

Indeed they do...Pilots involved in Iraq 1 & 2 have freely admitted that they are given uppers when they fly and when they hit the deck they are given downers so they can sleep makes you wounder doesn't it?

Or the real reason is I've just now seen this thread. Bad form on the church bashing. Thread closed.
