Michelin PR3 Failures?

He does state he checked pressure before the ride so it would be well above the low pressure I've used on my FZ1 at the track with my pr2's. May be a bad tire as I can't remember any troubles with the 3 reported here.
But he never states what his acceptable pressures were. IF he were running the pressures recommended in the owners manual while running Mich PR2 or PR3, he could have been lower that most around here recognize as preferred. Running OEM pressures in these tires is known to lead to odd and premature wear. Factor in the fudging tolerances that some are comfortable risking and you could go even lower.

The point is that, without the actual numbers, we have no idea what he was running. We've all seen posts where someone had a failure they seriously wanted to lay at the feet of another until (eventually) more data trickled out (the NOS energy drink in the gas tank is one that comes to mind).

I've been running the PR3 for about 6K now. My sense is they dont wear quite as well as the PR2s, but I haven't had any reason to complain about them. I run 40/42 or thereabouts.

Well today it's raining HARD in the mid-Atlantic. We know Michelin made rain improvements in the PR 3, but wow nice wet tire. Now granted I haven't ridden on good tread in the rain since last year, but my PR3 front is not disappointing, really the only reason a sensible person should fork out extra dough over a PR2 right? Wet weather. After 300 miles today all in hard rain, I'm very pleased and passing it on.
