If you didn't catch the reveal of Microsoft's new HoloLens technology and device, it's pretty awesome. They showed a number of demos featuring people designing and servicing motorcycles that I was happy to see.

This is magic for guys like Carver. Imagine putting on a pair of these glasses, and having FJRay walk you through in real time how to fix the doohickeythingamajig that you broke on your FJR, pointing to the precise steps to and seeing what you see in real time, like he was right there.

Imagine seeing how that new top case or tank bag will actually look on your bike.

Or building out your own virtual cafe bike using an online parts catalog, and then ordering the parts you actually need.

Or talking with Motoport and having them virtually model that jacket and pants you want, and seeing how it will fit on you when you look in a real mirror.

Star Trek stuff for sure.

I could totally use one of these things. Starting and stopping YouTube videos is one thing (pretty much how I've learned to service my bikes and cars), but this has mind-blowing potential.

Holy hell! Think what the world (if it's still here) will be like in 20 years. Or 50.

Funny thing to me is, when I was a kid in the '50's, there were always magazine articles, movies, tv shows, about what the world of the 21st century might be like. They weren't even close on any of it.

This is true. It is also true that had someone, in 1950, actually managed to describe the world we live in now, it would have been equally fantastic. Describing what an smartphone can do would have been hard to believe ... or GPS!

And it is still only 2015. What about 2050?

By 2050 we'll all be hooked up in a virtual world with a small implant (installed at our choosing, me thinks) which allows us to 'run' a web browser or file browser and see it, virtually, with no headset. Autos will auto-drive. Motorcycles won't, thankfully.

I'm still waiting for the Jetson cars.

Technology constantly blows my mind.
