Miles on FJR

I think an FJR will last alot longer than we think. In the old days bikes were air cooled and not as well built as they are now. The FJR should last as long as a car. They both have 4cyl engines, liquid cooled, shaft drive, low rpms, electronic fuel injection, computer controlled timing etc. I would expect most modern cars to get between 200,000-300,000 km (124,000-186,000 mi). I would expect most FJR's (that are maintaned) to get the same.

Guilty as charged...FJR #3 and counting! I would have still had my [now] 60K mile '06 if the killer '09 hadn't come up. I have found that the more vehicles and bikes I have the less miles per year I put on each. :yahoo:

This has been an interesting thread. I had no idea that these bikes might be hard to sell after 25k miles!Interesting topic.
Not sure in your neck of the woods, but around here, any bike with more than 40Km (25K miles) is considered done as far as resale goes. Doesn't stop ppl from asking utterly ridiculous prices for them, but they have a much harder time selling them.
I'm with Tom on this one. Once your passed a certain amount of mileage, your in it for the long haul if you don't want to take a beating on it.

My 06 has 25k miles, but I bought it in January 2010 with 370 miles on the ODO, and the meter recall was done at 294 so the total mileage was 664! I figured I was just breaking it in at 25k miles, guess I'll be in here for the long haul, which is fine with me!!
They aren't. There are the uneducated that will not consider them but those folks haven't dealt with bikes designed to put on miles without issues. There are plenty of buyers out there that know better.
I had over 72k on the first Wing I bought. The next one had about 25k (miles) and was over 80 when I sold it. The next one I bought new and put over 65k on it in 2 years. 300+k isn't unheard of on that marque regardless of which version (1100, 1200, 1500, or 1800).
The FJR is built like that too.

Picked up my 2003 in Southern Ontario three weeks ago with only 3,800 km! I've been able to add another 2,000 km to that total so far.
