The Minnesota 1000 results are up. A few FJR's did pretty good this year.

Dana (Opt8low) placed third while stopping and eating an entire Gunderburger (20 oz burger) along the way. How's the gut Dana?

Bob Young (byoung1), who's been riding motorcycles since before I was walking, (and I'm no spring chicken), pulled out a top 10 win in the Expert class. Missed riding with you this time Bob.

And Rick (rickcorwn) decided to start the rally with worn out tires. He managed to cover almost 50 miles during the 24 hours. At least he was efficient at 53 points per mile.

But not as efficient as Chris White (chris white). The Canadian, who road all the way from British Columbia, accrued an astonishing 115 points per mile. Unfortunately his ride only lasted 13 miles. Tough luck Chris.

Poor planning on my part I was out in the Dakotas and thought my tires would be fine but the rear evaporated on me :dribble:

But the good news is even though I only rode 47 miles I still beat 7 other finishing riders :blink:

Other highlights were a rider accumulating over 1600 miles on a rented Harley "are you sure it's unlimited miles?", the fore mentioned Can Am Spyder racking up nearly 1200 miles, 2 Ninja 250s and a Waffle House waitress who's now hooked on LD rallies. Oh, some poor shmuck who was on a potentially winning ride lost all his receipts when they blew out of his top case that he didn't close :dribble: That's what you call a learning experience.

The nice thing about eating that burger besides it being good is that the only thing I ate the rest of the rally was a handful of trail mix and a strip of beef jerky....

Gentlemen, I'm afraid I must correct you both. The problem wasn't that the top case was left open. The problem was the top case is a $20 piece of crap that should have been shit canned the first time it failed to stay closed.

That was somewhere in the Whiteshell Provincial Park, Ontario during the 2007 MN1000, and resulted in one missing Polaroid camera. Probably after hitting a bump in the road that managed to lift the rear tire off the road and move the bike violently to one side. :blink:

This time I believe the top case was jarred lose somewhere along J22 in Southern Iowa. J22 is an unmarked, rough, pot hole stricken road. Not the kind of road you want when trying to make time at 04:00 in the morning. I hit one of those pot holes and thought I might have bent my rims.

Regardless, your both right in that I should have learned the lesson the first time. For the next rally I'll have the pelican mounted, along with a new system of stowing receipts, and hopefully it will be idiot proof. Otherwise I'll find a way to lose something.

Another lessen learned the hard way. It will only make you stronger.

This way you really won't have any problems beating those West Coast FJR riders in the IBR.
