On the clutch side switch gear, there looks to be a "mirror attachment point" . Has anyone used this location for a RAM ball attachment point for a quadlock phone mount? I think that might make a pretty good place for a phone mount. If you know what size of RAM (I'd like to use the one inch ball, so I could use the RAM double socket, and use the other end of the socket for a 1" quadlock ball mount... Any help on what size would screw into the Mirror "port" would be appreciated

Yes, it's in my opinion the best place. I also have a RAM Ball mount just in front of the steering stem (out of shot) but I prefer the on on the clutch mirror mount as I can see it more easily.

Yes, i have used the clutch side screw threaded hole to attach my phone holder.

I am currently using the left mirror hole for a RAM ball for my phone, but I like the steering nut mount better. I had one from now defunct MCL. Techmount still sells a couple of different ones for the steering nut.

I thought a ball mounted directly into the hole would impact the arm movement (being so close to the clutch reservoir) so I used a 10mm bolt and an offset Ram ball.

I used a different style of RAM offset mount, for the same reason you did. Ultimately, it failed due to a fatigue fracture. I think the angled version you have might be more resistant, but found that it worked just fine with the ball screwed directly into the threaded clutch reservoir hole. RAM replaced the failed ball, but I haven't used it.

Wow. Never seen a Ram fail like that. Fortunately I use mine for a GoPro. Phone stays in my jacket pocket.
The Zumo 665 plus a longer RAM "arm" is fairly heavy and the longer arm acted as a lever to put increased stress on the flat piece of pot metal the offset was cast from. I'm sure it flexed (or tried to) on bumpy roads resulting in fatigue fracture. Probably would have been OK with a relatively light phone and/or a shorter arm.

One thing about the offset: I use it with about a 3” extension for adjustability. It’s good for a little right and left. I have it adjusted all the way to the right, it’s just enough not t block vision into the mirror. It’s distracting when you look into the mirror. I plan on adding another short extension to move it more to the right when I get home from my riding trip.

@Bobnos I really like the green. Is it paint or wrapped?
Paint. When I picked it up new at the dealer, I didn't like the blue and black, so before I put a mile on it, I pulled it apart and had it painted Corvette lime rock green. I spent a lot of time deciding on a color, but when I saw a Corvette that color I chased him down and got the color code from him. As a side note, I had the wheels powdered coated and what a difference it makes in ease of cleaning!

Thanks y'all for showing the way to put a RAM ball in the hidden hole near the clutch reservoir. Now can you tell me what phone mount to use atop that 1" ball? I'd mount an iPhone there. Now that Texas Hell Summer is over and its safe to ride again :)

There are many phone mounts. Like a lot of folks, I use an RAM X-Grip. If you go with this you will also need the appropriate length arm for it (I think mine is 4"). I am using the standard X-Grip, but if I were to purchase another I would go with the "Large" X-Grip. I also have a USB outlet mounted on the bars that I connect the phone to when it is on the X-Grip.
