Yup, what BigJon said. I uses to think I was the man, having outsmarted everyone by only spending $3. Then I tried the FZ1 mirrors and was forced to recant. There is nothing that can be done to an OEM FJR mirror to make it work as well as a FZ1 variant. Sorry.

As far as where to buy them, I would suggest boats.net. Someone else may have a better suggestion. Check eBay, but DO NOT buy the cheap knockoffs. Buy 1st Gen mirrors. 2005 and older, just like the FJR.

The only time I need mirrors is to see the flashing blue lights. Other than that I am exceeding the speed limits and most everything behind me is disappearing.

Really? Even at stop lights?

I use my FZ1 mirror pretty heavily when I am sitting at a stop light watching my six for some texting cage driver bent on plowing me down from behind.

In addition to stop lights, the mirrors work wonders when you're with other motorcycle riders. The width of a MC rider tends to disappear in the stock mirror. With the FZ1 mirrors I can keep track of riders right behind me, to way far back without doing the side to side shuffle jiggy. You can even see if your top case has blown open for some reason. Of course that never happens.

Thanks for all the responses. Looks like I should just go with the FZ-1 mirrors and enjoy the improvement over stock. And thanks, chazglenn3, for the Stadium Yamaha pricing.

Plus the FZ1 mirrors are easier to keep clean of bugs...

Might have to get those LR4 brackets for the Gen3 and give them try again
