This happened in the British GT2000 car championships 2 weeks ago. It was at my local circuit Oulton Park in Cheshire.

The driver undoubtedly owes his life to the rapid action of the marshals. I am so grateful that we have the same quality track workers in the bike racing world here as well.

Omigod. He was on fire as he got out of the car.

You don't see fires like that very often anymore in racing. It reminds of the bad old days.

And you're right. Quick track workers saved his life. Unreal that he's walking and waving.

It's clear he got tagged from behind, but it might have been because he tried to shut the door on a car that was already there. It all goes squirrelly when he moves to the left to set up for the corner.

Amazing videos. Thanks for posting those.

OMG!

One sees that playing "bumper cars" at that speed is a dangerous game. That was a well built roll cage in that (now) collection of scrap metal.

Its amazing to sit, transfixed while watching the scene, and realize it was actually happening to a human being.
