3 days 2 nights for moi...one day ride to Cleveland, TN just north of Chattanooga off the interstate.

from Nawlins' 530mi 8.5hrs riding time

2nd day ride along the Ocoee River, the Cherohala, to the south end of the Dragon, then 28 heading south to Walhalla, SC

200mi 5hrs riding time

We did the route on the Cherohala, to the south end of the Dragon, then 28 heading south to Walhalla, SC, then up North to the Blue Ridge Parkway and back to Blue Ridge,Va. A great run(1100mi.). Have fun and be safe!

Michael White da mvette and I are scheduled to do the trip May 9-11 weather permitting.

SFO and Wheatie are out this year as my oldest daughter Emzy graduates high school Fri, May 20th (after a very tough road on another thread).

Of course, her mother is being totally unreasonable that I can't be out galovanting the countryside on my Feej !!!

I do have EOM pretty much set...

I've been on 28 from the start of the dragon to Franklin where I pick up 441. Great road, never thought about taking it all the way, will have to look at that!

Don't think I can do that in your timeframe. I'm gonna be up there over Memorial Day for a meetup with some of the Hoagy folks: https://www.hoagysheroes.org/

and have considered the Wheaton's campout, not sure on that. I also need to get in a quick Michigan trip!

Regardless, looks like a fun trip! What are you planning on doing for accommodations? camping? fleabag motel? Holiday Inn?

inexpensive/moderate motels...stop lotsa times in Cleveland for Smokie riding trips...usually a Comfort Inn there, I think

heading out ('04 and best cause it's a Gen I) with mvette (Michael White '07) and possibly Jeff_Q ('08) if he can get away

appreciate you praying peeps lift up us for safety, mechanical reliability, good weather, and good health during out trip

gonna kind of be a compressed deal...Nawlins' to Sweetwater, TN Monday (600mi)

then Cherohala Skyway to Deals Gap (no Dragon this trip), then Hellbender/Moonshiners 28 to Wahalla, SC stopping somewhere toward Atlanta for the night Tue

Wed is heading home another 600mi

very nice 4 days...Mon to Nawlins' to Cleveland, TN

Tue along Ocoee River, then twisty 68 heading north to Tellico

Run the Cherohala including pulling a downed Harley Rider up and back on the road with only minor issues

traditional stop at Deals Gap (no Dragon) and ride and ride and ride on Moonshiners 28.

made it as far as Highlands around 2pm...being up at 3am Mon and 5am Tue, we were tired and very weary from the extreme twisties

I was inadvertantly using a death grip on my bars which brought pain into my hands at times

28 are very serious twisties and I didn't find an excess of traffic on that Tue...I prob wouldn't enjoy it on a Sat

as the most risk I saw was someone else crossing the double yellow...so

went west on 106 and then headed for the night in Athens GA

Wed was to head south to Andersonville Prison and then to Columbus, GA for Fuddruckers lunch and Outback dinner

and the night.

Then home Thur.

My buddies and I rode that sweet road south from Lauada down into Georgia last week. It was terrific. More fun than the dragon. And we found a great lunch place (Sunset Restaurant) in Franklin. Superb hamburgers!

Came back north on rt 107 through a tiny corner of South Carolina back into North Carolina. It was a fine day of riding. I hope to get back there some day.

I know now why Mr. Ashe burns through tires so fast.
