Since that no-good, worthless Honda corporation has apparently abandoned the hyper-bike class and has stopped North American sales of the Blackbird, I am going to some fair lengths to upgrade mine on my own. So while the forks were off to Traxxion Dynamics, I decided to do a lot of the same 90% gloss black powder-coating game I did on my FJR durings its rebuild.

Todays fun: muffler hangars and rearsets! :D

Here are the stock muffler hangars/passenger footpegs just after cooling off from the oven:

Heh.... when I showed the XX dudes a photo of my forks after they returned from Traxxion Dynamics, I got a lot of similar comments....

The XX has a proportioning valve down on the forks (between the 2 calipers?)?
Interesting.
That is part of the Linked Brake System (LBS); it has nothing to do with the forks.

 
Doesn't all that baked on powder add a LOT of weight? ;)

Slowing it down without increasing night time visibility...I don't get it :lol:

The coefficient of friction for powder coated parts is better than without...offsetting the increase in weight.

The classic response to the question "Why Iron Butt Riding?" is a fitting one here:

"I can explain it to you, but I can't make you understand it".

In other words, why do anything to a bike after it leaves the showroom floor? The reason: because you want to. Simple.

In Warchild's case, the need for the neato powdercoating is possibly the strangest of contradictions. Dirty/shiny/ride more get dirtier/make another pice shiny.

Maybe one piece at a time, this is his way of cleaning his bike :haha:
