I recently bought a set of Motivation frame sliders for my 06 FJR. The supplied mounting bolts are .010 inches smaller than the orginal bolts. Do I run the risk of stripping the threads?? Thanks for your answers

I bought my Motovation sliders when they were first offered for the '06 (May of '06). My hardware was exactly the same diameter and pitch as the bolts removed. Different length to account for proper grip length w/ the sliders. As I recall, I think one side is longer than the other, but diameters are the same. Have had no problems (including one driveway tip-over).

Are you sure you're comparing the right bolts? They are motor mount fasteners. Different sized bolts will not work!

Edit: Looked at their website, bolts should be (2ea.) 12mm x 100mm hardened socket head cap screws.

Use of Locktite is recommended. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.

Any chance you might have received the slider set for a pre-'06 FJR? The website doesn't callout the bolt dimensions for them? Could explain your situation!

Which model did you order? There are 2 that Motivation was selling. FSY14R is for the 06'/07' and FSY05S is for the 03'/05'. Make sure that when you put them on you clean the treads and use loctite. Torque specs for the 07' are 40ftlbs. They should be the same on the 06'

Good Luck.

the sliders iordered are for a 06 which is what I received. The bolts they supplied are the correct length and are the correct pitch and are 12MM but this is where the problem is. The motivation bolts are .27MM

smaller in diameter than the orginal bolts, now I know .27 MM is not a lot but it makes the fit a little looser. Do I run the risk of stripping threads when I torque them. .27 MM is about .010 inches

I'd say jerry1 had better figure out how to post before he asks another question.

I'm A ****, an maybe my "Dickedlyness" (thanks Iggy) is showing but, the double posting, without any comment is really annoying :glare:

All Hail the ****!!!!!!!!!!

:jester:
