I sure as hell hope not. That'd be a crappy track to race the GP on, gimme hills and valleys anyday, It's already a boring race to watch when the AMA guys race there. There needs to be elevation changes IMHO. Indy's like that track in Quatar, all flat and pretty boring IMHO. High banked speedway doesn't count as elevation.
Yamaha has invested millions +++++ in Laguna, in just the last couple of years. I can't see them switching tracks, I'm sure Yammie'd have something to say !
Mostly +1. Although, as noted elsewhere, the idea is to have 2 in the U.S., and I think I'd root for that no matter where it goes, Indy would be at the bottom of my list. Indy is already the most boring track on the F1 circuit. I suppose it would cost too much to upgrade mid-Ohio and probably the same is true for Road America and Atlanta, but both Barber and the track in Utah were built to FIM standards (I think). I'd prefer any of those 5 tracks over Indy any day.

Many doubt that Barber would ever be used for a MotoGP track due to its lack of a long straight. But, last time I looked, there's not much of a long straight at Laguna Seca.

Prolly the idea to try the Indy venue for a second US event comes from 3 things:

1. Central location

2. Ability and experience of the track operators in promoting an event of this magnitude

3. Logistics. Indy regularly handles crowds in excess of 350,000 people. They can do it right the first time.

I still think that Road America would be the best track if enough money was spent to make it FIM sanctioned. I had hotel reservations in 95 when they were supposed to race there. So why isn't Barber ever mentioned? Too short of a track?

I think Moto Gp has outgrown Laguna. And really what other tracks could host a GP round?

I wished I saw last years F1 race at Indy. It was M.S. last year

of racing. It would be great to tell the grandkids(none yet!) I saw

Rossi race in person! :clapping:

I just returned from the Power sports industry expo at Indy. While there I spoke to a variety of folks from the track. Unless they as BSing me it looks like there will be two rounds of Moto GP in the US next year. Laguna Seca and Indy.

The word is that the success of the Laguna Seca rounds the last few years-meaning really good attendance-led to adding another US round.

If this is true, and I think it is, it's way cool.

I'll see you at Laguna Seca!
