I rode the HD 5200 miles in 17 days across the country and in Canada last month.

I wore the Motoport mesh the whole trip. I really love the gear.

I had to wear the liners in the cold and it was great. It works in the heat too, real breathable like they say.

My problem is this...

The water puddled in the little fold that we get in the crotch when sitting on the bike.

The water eventually got through the flap/zipper/velcro and let a small puddle of cold water on the crotch.

Does anyone else have this problem? I emailed Wayne at Motoport and he said that I am the first to have this problem.. lucky me.

Wayne told me that I must have not done the fold/flap correctly.

That's typical Wayne for you -- if there is something wrong with his product, it's your fault.

I did not have problems with the waterproof liner in my Motoport kevlar mesh pants, but the stitching isn't top notch, either. Take the liner out and pour a cup of water on it to see if any seeps through.

Also, are you sure you didn't get any water intrusion from the top of the pants instead of the crotch seam? I wore my Motoport gear in a really bad downpour and water finds a way into just about anywhere. It's one of the main reasons I started doubling up with Frogg Togg rain gear in really bad storms.

For light to moderate rain I didn't have any problem with the Motoport liner or design.

Never had a problem with my liners leaking either, and I've been in some sertious downpours. Maybe you need to wash your liners and retreat them?

It was really the first time using the liners, I had just got them. I think that the waterproofness is good.

Everything else was really dry, I don't think that the water came from between the jacket and pants. That is what Wayne suggested. I had the jacket over the pants like I should.

I actually felt the handful of water plop in all on once. It was quite refreshing on the crotch, but I would rather stay dry.

BTW, The liners are great for cool weather, not just the rain.

Thanks for your thoughts...

I think that most folks have that problem, no matter who the manufacturer. Many complain of the puddling at the crotch and eventually water finds its way in. YMMV

I have a pair of HD Gortex rain pants and the whole crotch area is one piece. No water comes in EVER. Wayne said that he could do that for me for a price. Wayne said that I would not be able to get the pants on and off if it was one piece. Somehow the HD pants do it...

I took off the Motoport and put on the HD rain pants to stay dry. Anyone want to buy a pair of leaky rain pants? (just kidding)
