Spent the day on a different kind of steed today... Compared to my FJR... well... Let's just say the FJR is like driving a Porsche and the other thing was kind of like driving an old John Deere with a belly mower. But I'm getting paid for riding the poorly engineered piece of junk for two weeks straight instead of dealing with the daily grind so I rode it with a smile... that and crashing isn't too bad when you have crash bars wrapped in firehose scraps and somebody else covers all the damages.

I was gonna post a snazzy pic of the bike I get to call my office for two weeks but this forum makes it a pain in the ass to do so.

Here's a link to the other forum I posted it on with no issues:

Actually, it's not all that hard to post photos here, you just got to be smarter than a rock.

Buckaroo - I am totally envious of you. I consider myself pretty damned good at low speed handling of a motorcycle. Definitely in the 'well above average' category.

For a civilian.

I've got friends who are motor officers and what they can do with a motorcycle at slow speeds in confined spaces is pure poetry. Wish I could get that kind of training. And as you said, you're getting paid to do it, and dropping it ain't so bad when it's NOT YOUR BIKE!

Lucky bastard.

Skooter thanks for helping me out brother... I'm wore slick and just couldn't make this screen thingy with the letter thingys on it work right... and yes I'm actually very lucky to be doing what I'm doing. It was rainy this morning and I needed to take in some uniforms so I drove the cage to work... my plan is to ride my FJR back and forth for the remainder of my training provided we don't have ice on thu and fri like they're maybe calling for. Oughta be real interesting to compare the two bikes in real time!

So Skooter's picture doesn't show up either. Mebbe he's not as smart as he thinks.

By the post, I'm assuming you're doing motor school on a Harley. Funny thing is that in those conditions, the Harley is easier to ride with its low COG and the way you sit on it. Also, the slow speed crashes are way more gentle.

Falling down from the Beemer is way less cool and more prone to damage. The FJR may be better for most stuff, but for slow speed cop work, the Harley is hard to beat.

Nobody I know has the balls to ride their personal bike the way they ride the issued one. That's just crazy talk.

Well, it is showing up for me. And it is showing up for the OP. So it is on your (retarded) end wherein the problem lies. As usual. Fuckstick.

:finger:

Oh, and when I was talking about motor officers and poetry riding a motorcycle I was NOT talking about the short school bus dipstick that posted directly above me.

THAT **** for brains can't ride. In fact the cretin DROPS bikes at low speed. OTHER PEOPLE'S bikes as a matter of fact.

I can't see Skooter's pic, either. From the history of pics he's posted, maybe that's a good thing.

If he calls me retarded I'm gonna fold his ears over his face and suffocate him! :p

Odd. Did you try refreshing your browser? What exactly do you see?

Oh, and I wouldn't call you retarded Walt. Nope. No sirree. Not at all. Just ugly. Really ugly. I mean RadioHowie's mother ugly!

BTW... Zilla is correct... if you're looking for a bike that excels at going slow and falling over then yes, a Harley is just the ticket.
Haha...You *******. That's not what I was saying at all; even though, that's exactly what I said.

What I was trying to really say is that Harleys are easier to learn those basics on. They really do handle the slow speed stuff well. Have fun...and don't break your leg.

In IE I had a red X instead of the pic, and then the filename. In Firefox just the filename, no red X.

RH's mother ugly? Ouch!!!! But at least my helmet doesn't need special cutouts for my ears.....

I took a cop motor school "lite" here, good fun and some good training. The cops were over looking at my '06 FJR doing the usual "what is that?" They just switched to BMW RT's here in OK for our Edmond police.

escapefjrtist and I watch those boys last year at their motor rodeo. Freaking impressive … four or five different brands of bikes [no FJR’s] but mostly old and new Harley Davidson’s.

Fastest was a officer on a BMW but he would have been fast on whatever he rode.

Slowest were the officers on their new Victory's. They were fast at picking them up when they crashed though.

The most fun, for me, were the two bike runs. Side by side runs with a 36 inch string with magnets on both ends between the bikes going through the course. Too close and they banged into each other, too far apart and the string came loose. Some of those riders were damn fast through the course and others were just entertaining.

Still really enjoying the training but getting my ass kicked. I went thru all kinds of training in the army as well as SWAT and Sniper training... REALLY wish the 23 year old me would show up sometime and take over for the 43 year old me. Ibuprofen and Naproxen sodium are marvelous!

Hang in there buckaroo! Pain is only temporary, glory lasts forever, and chicks dig scars!

This 47 year old would relish the opportunity to get my ass kicked and be able to take that training.
