It's not news that MCN is switching to color with the March 2008 issue. Still, I just got mine in the mail and it looks GOOD! I was glad they decided to make the switch. Too often, the pictures just didn't do justice to the machine being reviewed.

They were at the cycle show in Minneapolis here in January. They had a hard sell going that Amway or The Witnesses would do well to emulate. When I said I'd think about it, the cow at the booth swore under her breath at me. Guess I'll have to read it vicariously through the buyers here............

I love MCN because they are honest and not swayed by Manufacturers who are paying for advertising in their magazine. Plus they go out of their way to tell us the truth and give their readers an honest evaluation of all products. I thought it was a little strange the other larger magazines recently rated the FJR 2nd when it came to their testing of the new C-14, and MCN was the only magazine that rated the FJR number 1 over the C-14 itself. In MCN it was a pleasure to know at least someone had the guts to tell us exactly like it was that the FJR still reigns supreme in the ever changing world of the Sport Touring Motorcycles.

I haven't gotten my new in COLOR MCN but I am definately looking forward to it. I also think this will give them more exposure when it comes to the masses noticing MCN, right now it just looks old fashioned and kind of out-dated when it comes to it's Black and White layout. Just as long as they stay the same and keep up the great work it's all better for us who read it. Just a great magazine from a bunch of dedicated people who love and understand everything motorcycle.

Another little known sales technique...swear at your customers. Guess it didn't work out well for them now did it? ;)

Mine came in the mail today, just looked it over while eating lunch. The new look is AWESOME! Dave (the editor) says in his column they even changed out the Suzuki B-King that was scheduled to go on the cover since it only comes in shades of black, charcoal, gray, or silver, none of which would help show off the new color edition. They instead opted for a Ducati 848 in brilliant red! An article about Two Wheels Only Motorcycle Resort in Suches, GA also shows off fall colors in all their splendor. I say "three cheers" for the staff and the new graphics artists.

I only subscribe to two magazines, MCN and Cook's Illustrated, both for the same reason; they accept no paid advertising, which leaves them free to speak the truth (as they see it) in their articles and reviews. If you're not reading MCN I believe you're missing out, but of course YMMV.

****, I have three of the last issues in the 'library' that I haven't even opened yet. Guess this one will fall in line or substitute for Charmin in a pinch. ;)

I think my "library" has you beat by a couple. I've even got my wife reading them in there (no I don't have any pictures)! No comment from her yet on the addition of color.

I'm glad they told you what you wanted to hear.

I believe they just told the TRUTH! Trust me when I say this, they all produce great bikes, Honda, Kawasaki, and Yamaha. It just so happens Yamaha was rated number one in MCN (The best damn Magazine out there) And YES they did tell me what I wanted to hear.

Must have been the same blister at the Chicago show. I told her the last time I renewed my subscription at the show 2 years ago, I received double copies for 6 months and a single copy for the next 6 months. <_< I mentioned I had tried to contact the company to correct the mistake but to no avail. All she said was that "sometimes **** happens. Needless to say they have lost me as a subscriber.

Got home, after a weekend out of town, and found that my issue had finally arrived. I've been sub'd for more than 10 years and my issues always come about 2 weeks after the first person starts posting about it. Looks good.

I'm a long time MCN sub'der too. But given the state of print business now-a-days and MCN's editors article on the colorization, I came away wondering if this was a last shot to stay alive. I hope they keep going, as the rest of the national MC & auto rags are not worth even toilet time use.

I would subscribe if they would distribute electronically. That might also breath some life into their product. But it seems they are plagued with the same "issues" as my own industry.

:(

I hope you feel better when I tell you I still haven't gotten my copy......
