Motorcycles Sales in Indonesia and Manufacturer Performance…
Looking at wholesale volumes by maker, Astra Honda (a JV between Honda [7267; 1M; ¥7,180] and a local company) posted a 12% YoY decline, Suzuki (7269; 1M; ¥2,540) a 60% drop, and Yamaha (7272; 2M; ¥2,660) a 57% increase.
The news was good for Yamaha, which launched new high value-added models last October: it was the only company that maintained positive YoY growth. It targets 21% growth in sales volume in 2006, as it works to strengthen its lineup of AT models and other products that set it apart from rivals to offset the anticipated 3% decline in overall demand. At present it is on track to achieve its goals.
