Just the cost of production divided-by 200 units = very expensive motorcycle...!

Also from the article:

"Conn told me that every component was evaluated to see if it did one of three things. If it didn’t either increase performance, increase comfort, or increase range it was redesigned. “Everything else is just a gimmick.”

"...minimalistic nature of the bikes. Not much instrumentation, and there’s no ABS."

No ABS...! I doubt they'll sell ANY in America (well, maybe 200...?). :unsure:
Right in the Motorcycledaily article: $30K. Makes a Ducati MS S look like a steal.

I think that maybe all of us are looking at this bike in the wrong light.

It isn't actually meant to be ridden. It's more like a motorcycle ornament for the garage. ;)

 
Guess what's on the front cover of the October issue of Motorcyclist Magazine? Here's some tidbits... They said 161 bhp and 120 ft. lbs. of torque pushing 526 pounds. They said, "Handling is remarkably good for a prototype." They also said, "It is the first production 4 stroke motorcycle engine equipped with gasoline direct injection (GDI)." However, it's got the most insane looking RED valve covers. Not sure what they were thinking, but at least they'd be cheaper than the carbon fiber units yall were talking about earlier in this thread.

Yup just got my (always free) copy in the mail yesterday too.

They "said" it is DI (Direct Injection) but then they described the injectors being in the intake manifold after the throttle plates. That isn't DI. DI is in the cylinder (after the intake valve head).

A lot of the article seemed to be marketing hype. Not that this bike will have any impact on any of us. Although they specifically say they will be selling it against the likes of the BMW GTs, Kawi Concours, FJR, etc. they only plan on producing 200 a year. :blink:

 
This machine may be for the guy who can afford an Indian, but wants to have some Fun too. If it's stinky expensive, fine, I'm not affected. If it's affordable, hopefully they sell a raft full of 'em. Engine promises to be a torque monster, not a 'Busa challenger. Big deal. I just hope they can make it to production, sell a few, and maybe I can take one for a spin.
