The Haul Rd. Trashed my OEM case

Then I got a Pelican and mounted it with doubled plexiglas cause I was in a hurry

That mounting lasted 1 gravel road in a rally.

Now I think I got it right:

When I saw the title, "Mounting a Pelican", I thought this was going to be about something Bustanut had done. I am almost disappointed.

Seriously, I admire your ingenuity. That looks pretty secure to me. I hope it stands up to the torture I am sure you will put it through.

The 1550 is a 32 liter case, so not that huge. But it does weigh a hefty 10.5 lbs completely empty. With all of that weight counter-levered off the rear subframe, I'd be awfully tempted to do a couple of things:

First, see if you can find a GIVI steel rack to substitute for the plastic OEM rack. It will help reinforce the subframe from breaking.

Second, I know that you tend to ride solo on your long trips. Why not move the mass of the box forward further so it isn't levering against the frame as much?

^ Yeah. I'd rotate it 90 degrees, slide it forward more and put a pad on the forward side to lean my back against.(and perhaps a pad under it to fill in over the passenger seat.)

I do have a passenger for some of the rides;

But I am considering a 2nd set of mounting holes in the plate to make it adjustable when I do not have the fuel cell.

Ah yes... the fuel cell. Forgot about that. How far upward does your cell go? Maybe you could actually have the cell bear some of the weight of the box when in the forward position? In which case you could haul bricks in it while on your future tours of Oklahoma. ;)
