Mounting FJR with "top box"

What a crappy title for a thread, I saw mounting and box and was very disappointed by the contents. ;)

The vertically challenged Mrs. v65 stands on the drivers peg and swings her leg over like she is mounting a horse. By using the drivers peg she has enough room to get her foot in front of the topcase, the key to success.

She can get on with me already on the bike, not having seen that process I have to assume there is some intervention by God going on back there. :)

Also, when holding onto your right shoulder w/ her left hand, she can hold onto the case itself w/ her right hand. V65... never thought about standing on the driver's pegs... but that makes perfect sense. Will try that with my next passenger.

Stella has the same problem due to the backrest. We've worked it out. Sidestand down. Engine off and in gear. She gets on and slides back to her spot. I then place my right leg through the opening between gas tank and Stella and settle in. Done.

My wife can't get on the normal way without kicking the trunk and shaking me around so much that I'm afraid we'll tip over. So we use the method above. Not ideal, but it works.

Gunny. Wife has a bad knee and this works the best for her.

Arthritic knees make this the only comfortable solution for Syl. I make sure that I'm controlling the front end of the bike so that she has no concerns overbalancing it away from the stand as she "slides back".

Sounds like the most logical answer. We are going to try a few of the suggestions above. The side stand looks a little feeble to me, but I guess it will not bend or break. There is some flex to it at times.

When I had my fuel cell I'd stand on the peg with the bike on the side stand to get on and never had any problems, I'm 230+#.

With you seated on the bike, her left hand on your left shoulder and her left foot on the passenger peg. She can then step up and over. Voila.............What the hell do I know, I'm a bachelor!
OK, I tried this and she ended up in front of me, facing backwards. (trying it again. . . hmmm. . . left hand. . . left shoulder. . . right foot peg. . . oh crap.)

On a more helpful note, always: You, on the bike, feet on the ground, firm grips on the bars. Tell her when you're ready. Then only, she begins the get-on process. Helps if she grabs her ankle or pantleg and gives her "flexibility" a little assist.

Her tight leather jeans don't give her al lot of flexability.

Sounds like shes working against ya, Id loose the jeans, loose the wife, pick up a smuggler and actually enjoy the ride.
No offense or anything, but please review this thread. Carefully.

Oh, come on... I like loose wimmens with loose jeans.

Thanks for all the help and for the chuckles my Wife and I had with some of the suggestions. We rode 150 miles today in a poker run and of course she had to get off and on a number of times and she did well. Used my pegs to mount after I was in position...
