I did a write up a few years back on placing it in the glovebox, but new forum limits search to one year so I'm unable to locate it. PM me for details if you're interested. I've been using it that way for years, nice to run in stealth mode.

this is an awesome mount. easy on, easy off, goes from bike to car in a snap.

mounted right side, just inboard of my throttle. works amazing.

I also bought the direct power supply for this RD and hard wired to the bike so no cord snaking across the bars from the glove box power.

this has bright LED alerts and a remote mute option that is very low profile

Here's your original thread: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=125576 I Google'd 'cajw radar site:fjrforum.com', and it was third on the list.

It's an interesting idea, but the arrows and counter on my V1 are important info for me, so I prefer to have mine mounted on the brake reservoir.

I saw, in the last day or two, a thread showing a detector mounted in a small, water resistant textile carrying case velcroed to the top of the tank bag with the wiring coming out the side. Rider reported it worked very well, was easy to remove when parking the bike and had better reception than it did in the glove box. Maybe over on Sport-Touring.net. Looked like a neat solution.

Thanks for that. Coffee hadn't yet kicked in so link is appreciated.

That's great info. Thanks so much...I also got an LED bluetooth thingy for inside the helmet, so you don't have to look at the RD.

Thank you all for all the great ideas. I also got an LED alert from www.legalspeeding.com to mount inside the helmet.

Am I still a FNG????? It's been a year now...

Did you use the RAM on the brake reservoir?

Also, there is a threaded (looks threaded anyway) hole on top of the clutch lever. Looks to be approx. a 3/8in. hole with a rubber plug in it. Anyone know what it's for?

That was me, here. There is another thread going about the same exact thing over here

Well, technically it is drilled and threaded for a 10mm mirror to thread into, but that isn't needed on the FJR. Probably they just have re-purposed that clutch bracket from some other bike. So lots of people attach accessories to it. A RAM 10mm threaded ball screws right in there slicker'n snot.

I use a Garauld Reservoir Bracket on the brake reservoir, as described in this post: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?showtopic=122532

I tried that for about 6-8 months. It did work OK. Loved that it was rainproof. Didn't care at all about the loss of lidar warnings.

But... what I noticed is that if the radar source (cop) was not directly in front of me the RD had a much harder time picking the signal up at any decent distance. I believe that the feed horn's sensitivity is like a fan pattern that is normally spread widely across the horizon in it's normally used orientation. When you turn it 90 degrees to put into the glove box that puts the fan in the vertical axis and a narrow sensitivity in the horizontal axis.

I do not have any imperial data to show to prove this is true, just my own seat of the pants gut feeling. So, take it for what that's worth (not much). In any case opted to move it to its present location atop the tank bag (inside the cordura stealth bag).

That's for a mirror, unused on the FJR. RAM sells Ram balls that will fit there.
My own "poor man's" version using magnetic RAM plate and the left mirror mount.

Oh man, that's great. Looks like something I would do!!

industrial strength velcro on top of the brake res., plastic sandwich/freezer bag to rainproof. If it is raining pretty good you are a lot less likely to encounter radar as its effectiveness is blunted. I do have mine wired to a screamer also.
