That's what I did before I went to the Garauld bracket. The positive connection of the V-1's power cord allows it act like a tether, increasing the safety margin, but it can still be a little hairy in heavy crosswinds, which is why I moved to the bracket and velcro cinch strap.I've had my V-1 setting directly on the brake or clutch master cylinder using standard Velcro/hook-and-loop on three different bikes for ~200,000 miles without incident.
