I mounted my Phillips HID's to my 06 with the Top Gun Brackets from my 03. The only modification to the brackets was to remove the small piece that used to be held by the screws on the inside fairing panels, and enlarge the mounting holes to 11/32". There are rubber spacers between the mirrors and fairing. I removed the rubber spacers and put the brackets on in their place. There are steel tubes that the mirror bolts go through. By enlarging the holes in the brack, they fit tightly over those tubes. When the mirrors are tightened down, the brackets are just as tight as they were on the 03.

Good deal. Now all you need are the "Boobs of God" and you'll be all set. Check with Rad. :haha: :derisive:

While at WFO I remarked to a few '06 owners that the mount spacing for the '06 mirrors looked very close to the '10-'05 and that the bracketry might interchange (And perhaps the FZ-1 mirrors). I have never seen the dash panels off of an '06 but now, because of your write-up, understand the "sleeve" issue. I still wonder if some FZ-1 mirrors might "bolt on" with little modification.

We're all getting smarter because of your inventiveness.

Nice setup! :clapping:
Are you running some kind of experiment with collecting bugs? :haha:
I consider myself an amature collector. GZ is the true master that we should all be in awe of....

Thanks for the post. I thought the mirror bases were similar even though the 06 has the twin stalks.

Any vibration problems with the rubber spacers removed?

Where did you get those. Shoot me a pm please thanks.

Tom (aka head buffer),

where did you end up mounting the ballasts (starters...whatever)? Under the seat? under the passenger seat?

I've been waiting to do everything at once -

scott Cathey is building brackets from my prototypes (he should have gotten them in the mail today). I never really looked at the top gun mounts, but my bracket is pretty much the same. After looking at those I think I would have pushed the mount more forward of the mirrors (like on the top gun) I basically tucked them as close as possible directly underneath the mirrors.
