Let me check with the SO, as that is a 4 hour run for me just to get to the Ham, 2 hours if I don't get caught :yahoo:

My friends in the FBR, Floribama Riders tell me that the pig trail and a couple other roads have recently been re paved and there are stone chips all over, can someone confirm>

Skippy in Gulf Breeze, near Pensacola FL.

Which "pig trail"? If you're talking about the roads up and down cheaha, then here's the deal: The northern side of the mountain (from Heflin-281 I think) was redone last year. Tar and gravel crap. Loose stuff is gone. Very 'decent' road, but doesn't hold quite the 'knee-dragging' speeds it once did. Really doesn't affect me, though. If my knee is dragging, I've already crashed but just haven't stopped moving yet. The southern side (from Munford, Talladega) is a real peice of work. No road repairs is quite some time. This side is narrow, full of blind turns, and potholes. Don't go daydreaming on this side. It bites.

Hey guys, sorry I can't make it this weekend. I just rode home from North of Chicago and got in late last night. It's a good thing the FJR handles well in the rain, 560 miles in the rain yesterday!! Let me know the next time you guys get together. Thanks

Sorry cant make it. All out of kitchen passes. I got the "Go if you want to." answer. With the body language that said I better sit at home and watch Murder She Write rerunds with her.

Just checking in good in Smyrna, GA.

Good ride today guys. Had a great time and look forward to riding with you all again.

Great roads. Thanks for the tour, scab.

Ya'll come over to Jawja some day and I'll reciprocate. :)

Good day, good company, just plain 'ole good ride. Next time, let's bring all the wives/SO's. Course, we'll have to ride like adults, but that'll be okay.

Glad you made it home safe. What did that hwy 9 route save you in time? Bout 30 - 40 mins?

Enjoyed it! Thanks for the tour, scab. Super roads! Let's go again sometime, or as Wally sez, we may need to sojourn over to GA...

Scab - great host.

sorry about bringing the BMW guy. :p

I loved 49

That is a good road!

It's okay to bring the BMW guy. It gives the rest of us someone to make fun of.

I didn't really keep track of the time that good but it was a lot better than taking 21 through Anniston whether its faster or not.

Just got in from being out of town since Sunday morning... here's hoping that you guy's had fun. Post pic's if you got 'em. Thanks.

Other than the airport hassles... we had a great time. I'm totally impressed with the outer banks in North Carolina. I have to go to a friends son's wedding Saturday, but I'm free Sunday. Does anyone want to ride... or at least give me a good route from B'ham. to Cheeha? Thanks.

Edit to add... a route including 49 off of 280. Going to Map Point now.

I've told the family I'ld take em to the Ga aquarium Sun, I'm open Sat.

BTW 49 was off 281 not 280 (the long sweeping side of Cheaha towards the bottom). It goes to Ashland

DOH! Just saw the post. But I'm stuck homebound this weekend. I've got a house full of young 'uns. It's my 8 year old's birthday festivities.

We need to plan an SO ride. I'll be gone Labor Day weekend and the SO works Saturdays. Sundays are usually open.
