Muffler bolt gone !

My 2011 bought new this April was just sitting in the garage today and as I walked by decided to

put her up on the center stand, well whats this rattling sound ? shook the bike and the left muffler

was loose with the bolt and washer that holds to the aluminum bracket missing.

Bike has almost 10,000 miles and I guess a torque check will become part of my regular maintenance.

Yep, crap comes loose on the bike, especially of not torqed properly.

Yep! Last fastener I found gone was the nut on the fuel tank rear bolt, the one you loosen to raise the tank.

I have to say that I don't use a specified torque for fasteners such as these. The torque wrench comes out for "mission-critical" items (wheels, pinch bolts, brake parts and almost anything on the engine) but fasteners get tightened to "good enough". Not to say I don't check stuff but I can't recall ever loosing a part because of something coming loose.

Is that the bolt that held the bearing? Holy crap, what a disaster losing the muffler bearing could have been!!!

I check those every time I change my battery.

I was thinking the same thing Walt.. If those bearings were to fall out and the rear tire was to run 'em over???

I've found the Torx head screw that sits just behind the shifter (directly behind toe piece) tends to loosen up from time to time.

Thats mighyt nice of you my friend but I called a local dealer yesterday and just got the call that the parts were in today.

Dont know how they got them that fast..........Thanks again...
