Hey guys,

Im leaving St. Louis, Saturday morning May 3rd for a ride. I should be in Safford Arizona by May5th or 6th. I have a few days to spend in the Arizona / New Mexico area. I know 191 north of Safford up to Alpine is one road I want to do. I would like to go the North Rim before I leave too. Im looking for suggestions on the must ride roads down there.

SR89A from Flagstaff thru Oak Creek Canyon and Sedona then continue thru Cottonwood to Jerome then to Prescott and on down Yarnell Hill to Wickenburg. That will keep you busy and entertained for at least a day. If you start in Phoenix and go up that would put you in a good position to go to the Canyon. Either direction is a great ride.

Too bad your not coming a couple weeks later then you could join us for SWFOG in Tombstone. 191 is a fun road and Tombstone during Wyatt Earp Days will be jumpin'.

US 60 between Show Low and Globe is pretty nice. Not quite as twisty as 191, but very pretty, and when your in the canyon its beautiful. Some people prefer it because its not quite as technical, yet still provides a hell of a ride

In Payson, if you take AZ 87 north you can either take the AZ 260 (General Crook Trail) west, or you can take Lake Mary road north west to Flagstaff. Both routes are very pretty, but 260 is a little twistier.

North Rim normally does not open until mid-May, so you'll need to check the NPS web to see if it is open or not.

I was by the North rim turn (Jacobs Lake) last Sunday (4-27) on my way to Torrey & it is still closed.

I really like Hwy 64 between Tres Piedras and Tierra Amarilla. Have done that on the way to WFO the last 2 years on a fellow forum member's recommendation and loved it!
