Just in time for Christmas but alas a 3 month wait to ride it. Such is life in the Northeast.

In the bag with the manual was a lock tumbler, is this just a spare or does it belong somewhere on the bike?

(green with envy)

Be sure that you also have the hole covers for the bags because they are stupid expensive if you have to buy them. Even if you don't plan to run with the bags off you want to have the covers 'cause ya never know...

Confirm with your dealer that they used lock tite on the bag lock hardware.

Yes, the lock is for the optional trunk.

MOM's has one for the taking...go get it!!

The covers were in the bag along with the lock. I'll probably only take the bags off when riding near boat docks

Thanks for the tip on the locktite and thanks Geosci for the answer on the tumbler.

I'm pretty sure the spare lock is for the OEM top case, when and if you decide to get one. I got one with my bike and that's what I was told.

"Green with envy to say the least!" Congrats Joel that's a very sharp ride you got there, can't wait to check it out come spring. Do you get visitation rights during the winter season! LOL Are you going to try to get a factory service manual? may make good reading over the long winter.(hopefully not too long)

its going to be the lonesgest winter on record now!! hope your 3 months flies by! very nice cycle!

Hi Twinrivers,

you would send that fine looking bike over to me for the 3 months that you have to wait. I could run her in for you at no charge and I could take photos of the places we visit so that you don't feel left out.

Think it over and get back to me.

Best regards

Surly

Surly...I have given your very generous offer some considerable thought. However, I have decided that having you break-in my FJR would be detrimental to me as I would have to retrain her to drive on the right side of the road. Sorry to disappoint

I don't think the Aussies drive on the wrong side of the road...do they??

If not, it's only fair to your new beauty to let him giver her a ride...

:D

Yes they do but I don't think they consider it the wrong side :)
I looked into a HOG sponsored ride there a few years back but was afraid I'd kill someone...

Come on over, you will love it even if you have to ride a Harley.

Thanks for the reference, Ionbeam.

I see was using a *******ized version of the original.

That spare lock should include the lever arm whick should also be attached to the lock tumbler. It can be used on a factory top box or heaven forbid you lose one of the locks on your side bags. As suggested, make sure you have the torx screws on the bags locks lock-tite (red)!!!!!!
