I have often said in the pat that one of my favorite things about my job was getting paid TO RIDE. That is to say that not only was I on the clock while riding here and there, but I was also getting reimbursed for my mileage.

Well, my employer got tires of one of my coworkers whining like a little girl about all the miles her was putting on his cage, so they went and got all of us company cars. So the good news is that during the winter I wont be putting any miles on my personal vehicle. However, this also means that if I decide to ride the bike on a work day I will not get a penny back from the company. I guess I could still ride, but it seams kind of stupid to ride the bike and have it cost money, when I could use their car for free.

The additional downside is that I was using my mileage checks to pay for trips and farkles, since my wife never saw the reimbursement checks. Now that is gone too. ****!

Dude that sucks, kind of? I hear what your saying though, I just got away from company car after 6 years. I miss it sometimes...

As far as farkle money, you need to get an off shore account (paypal) so you have a stash for fun stuff!!

It shouldn't last too long, every friend of mine that has had the company provide a car has had it taken away once the company finds out what a real pain it is to pay for the leases, insurance, mileage, gas consumption, wear and tear and etc....takes a lot more than paying you to ride. Give it about a year. In the process, they'll probably lay off the whiner at the same time since she pushed them to adapt to the idea.

This is true. The current trend is for companies to cut back or eliminate company car policies.

In the meantime, however, I don't know what to say Trigger. The good news is that you have a free vehicle. The bad news is fewer $ for your trips. At least you're sitting pretty and already have a well-farkled bike.

Of course, you could always crash your company car and sabotage your coworkers' cars so that your employer has no choice but to put you back on mileage allowance. ;)

My employer was pretty smart when it came to buying the cars. they bought them, instead of doing a lease, since we put on on ton of miles. They got a deal through the local dealer that if one of our cars is down for repair, we can just take one of the dealer courtesy cars for the entire time our car is ion the shop. We gt the Chrysler Calibers, and they have a lifetime warranty on the power-train, so doing any major (like KILL the car) damage is going to be tough.

On the positive side, I can take the entire bike apart this winter, and not think about riding if I get a nice week day.

As far as the whiner, I am thinking of where I could dispose of the body. I hear hogs are the best way to go.

Welcome to my world...except in my world I don't have a company vehicle.

Sorry about the reduced vacation on the company dime....

But congrats on the 4 million miles you put on in the last month going back and forth around NAFO time.. :clapping:

Whiner is a complete idiot - those miles were a profit center for her. She was making money every mile she drove . . . . then again, having THEIR car is a REAL money-maker because they pay the whole shot and there's no capital required.

As you pointed out, the drawback is that you won't get paid to use your bike.

And the company is not doing the environment any favors either. They probably should have played the green card with Ms. Whiney and explained that it takes a lot more energy to BUILD a car then to RUN it.

Then shey should have fired her.
