Congratulations on your milestone. I think your story is very interesting, keep posting pictures and telling us what maintenance you have done. I am particularly interested in valve clearance adjustment intervals.

Sorry for the delay

I brought the seat to Bill Mayer to have a new cover on. Notice that it has no stitching - should last longer. The workers did a great job.

I had my friends at MK detail in Ontario, Ca. buff and colors sand the tank. If you look closely you and see the paint protection shield.

When i crashed my 03 FJR, I was able salvage the Muzzy pipe. Muzzy wasn't very helpful in helping me repair the pipe ( didn't think it could be done) so I brought it over to Yoshimura and fixed it for free!

The headlights were pitted badly so MK detail has this process were they sand the headlights down and then buff it out. It looks like new again. Still some pitting on the fairing but I didn't want to remove it to have it painted.

Just a few more pictures of the finished product. Probably one of the nicest 200k FJR's your ever going to see.

As far as maintenance is concerned, I have the valves adjusted every 30 - 400000 miles.Typically one or two exhaust valves are slightly off.

I have the suspension rebuilt once a year or 30 -40k miles which is probably not enough. My suspension guy Shock Therapy in Ponoma, ca. hates doing my suspension. It stinks up his whole shop and the oil is like mud. I should have it done twice a year.

I still have few things that I want to do to the bike and will post as i do them.

.

Thanks for the update, I found it very useful. That bike sure looks nice and it certainly does not show its age.

Couldn't agree more. This is testimony that if I take care of my bike, I may never wear it out. Very comforting indeed.

Congrats to your milestone! I'm rather new to FJR and this remarkable achievement instills my confidence on the bike's durability, maintainability, and reliability.

wow 200,00+miles that's some riding . I now have become one of those people that dont have time to ride taking care of 2 house holds ..so as they usto say..... KEEP ON TRUCKING :yahoo:

Congratulations and thanks for the info. I am a long way from 200k on my 05, but I do plan to ride it for a long time.

Has yours ever developed the tick?

Please keep us posted as the mileage continues, I am hoping and wishing for you to reach 300,000 miles, this would be an unbelievably achievement :)
